HS tennis matches start next week, better schedule something soon or everyone under 18 won't be available. :(

next week's too soon for me. do you have HS tennis on the weekends too?

ps. maybe it's best that i don't get my butt whooped by a HS kid anyway, it'd be easier on my ego if it were whooped by someone my own age or older :)

Nice. Let's do it some time in the coming weeks at CP. My son's working me hard to get him ready for his school tennis team so all my time is spent working with him on the courts.

I'll give you a yell probably some time later next week?

Sounds good. I feel trapped trying to cross 520 after work, so I'm itching to work in some hitting on the East side.

I haven't been checking this thread! AAAH sorry. Shoot me an e-mail at
    my screen name @ hotmail.com

I probably would, as long as it wasn't too far away. I might bring a camcorder and a camera and document it all graphically ;)

I can probably do it, just give me a time and date, and shoot me an e-mail!

Okay, with apologies to TheShaun, it appears we can get four of us together in the Seattle/Eastside area, those being diredesire, tennisp13, travlrajm, and me. If you guys want to try and arrange a time, I can try and grab a court at Central Park (it's been really, REALLY busy recently) or we can hit at Grass Lawn, Robinswood, Amy Yee, UW, or one of the school courts (Redmond Jr. High).

Documentation of the event via camcorder, while I'm sure totally embarrassing for me, would be fun! You guys can hit with my 13 ounce granny stick!

Hey guys, any of those place is fine. Brain freeze question, where is Central Park. Yeah, set it up, it going to rain soon, or we may have to play indoor. :D
How about this weekend, or next weekday :)

Uh, camera, hehehe. It would be funny watching myself try to blast the ball and miss. Cheer guys. Anything 13 ounce is good to hit.

I can probably do 6:30ish at Grasslawn next week. My game has gone into full rustover since I started working long hours at my new company, so I won't be impressing anyone on video.

Central Park is a private tennis club a couple of miles away from Grass Lawn park. It's gotten really busy there all of a sudden, maybe because the club tournament is three weeks away. It seems, though, that Grass Lawn might be a good alternative as well. Either way is fine with me. With travlrajm not playing and me still trying to recover from my ankle surgery, I think it's absolutely fitting that we document our fine play on video. Diredesire, can you make it?

Was one of you at the UW outdoor courts on Saturday? I saw someone with a TW bag listening to an ipod on the second court while I was leaving the football game.

    AAAH!!!

If you guys make any solid plans just shoot me an e-mail, I rarely see this thread :)

FYI: I work at Nordstrom Tennis Center (on UW Campus), so if you want to hit there after 6:00 I can open the doors (it is closed after 5:45). We'll have the place to ourselves!

Keep me posted, I probably won't have a car, so UW campus is easiest for me by far ;P

Oh yeah, no charge obviously. Just don't tell anyone ;)

Edit: I can also bring by a guy or two who also visits this board, but infrequently...

Edit2: I am free after the ~21st. I'll be out of town from the 19th - 21st approximately. I should be available the rest of the week to play. After that, NTC resumes its regular fall hours. Can anyone make it the weekend of 22-23?

Hey, this sounds like the best plan. I'm available on the 22nd, and then I[m out of town all of the next week. If you're absolutely sure this is not going to be a problem in any way, how about we just plan for 6 p.m. on the 22nd?

TheShaun, SeaTac is kind of at the hub of the worst traffic in the area, and I've never played there so I don't know of any courts near there. I think it's probably going to be better for someone coming from the Tacoma side than the Seattle side.

as long as i'm not too far from the airport, as i need to pick someone up. we can meet north of the city too. i'd just need to leave time to get to the airport. or on the 8th i can stop at the courts on my way back to vancouver.

    Midlife, thanks for the info.
Yeah, that sound like good plan guys. We could play at UW on the weekend, Sept 22. :O) Does it have to be after 6pm? I don't mind really, I will make free times for that day :)
Here my email, tennisp13 at yahoo.com. Ping we with info.

Midlife, can you get a group e-mail going with details on the meet? At 6:30 would be better, as most people would be long gone from the tennis center then.

My e-mail address is diredesire @ hotmail, please shoot me one and we can get some details going!

Will do. I've got you, tennisp13, travlrajm (I have your old email address and don't know if it still is good). Gmedlo, you're in Puyallup and sounds like you're in high school. Do you want to join us? TheShaun, sounds like you're too far away.

Anyone else? If so, email me and I'll get you on the list. I'll send out the first email tonight just to make sure they go through, and I'll add people as I get notified.

Not for me. Our club tournament runs from the 4th through the 14th, and being just three months out from major reconstructive surgery on my ankle, I don't think I could handle more than just the tournament itself.

Can't make it this coming Saturday? With the way the exchange rate is looking, you can come down and do some serious shopping on the cheap!

it's my friends stag weekend. i would make the drive otherwise.

his wedding is in seattle on the 6th. but my girlfriend is flying in for the weekend so i won't be able to take time away to play. that's why i can play either on the 5th before she arrives or on the 8th after she leaves.

what ntrp are you guys? i could be kidding myself, trying to play with you. i would guess mine to be a 3.0 -3.5.

Sounds like you're in for a bit of fun too!

travlrajm would be competitive at the 5.0 level. I've played a couple of very close league matches against two guys who are a combined 9-1 or 10-1 in 4.5 doubles and singles. I played against travlrajm a couple of years ago when I was just getting back into tennis and though I'm playing better now, he was and is still clearly better than I am. I haven't hit with any of the others.

No matter your level, it'll be fun just to get together for a hit. If nothing else, it'll give you an insight into what it takes to get to whatever level the others are playing at, and for that reason I'm dying to hit again with travlrajm and everyone else.

I don't hit as much as i'd like, but I'll call myself an optimistic 4.0 ;)

If you guys DO want to do any more meets just let me know. I can get courts in about a week in advance during the school year. I can probably get a block of ~2.5 hours in the evenings, etc. We'll see how this meet goes, and play it by ear from there.

Uhh, I hope I could get the ball back :D .hehehe. Let see, maybe I am an optisitic 4.0 also but always want to improve. Maybe playing a better player will help. :)

I probably won't be able to play this week. To make a long story short, I haven't played in the last two weeks because of a sneeze that has caused back problems. And of course, my parents won't pay for a visit to the chiropractor, so going cold-turkey on tennis and running is my only option :( .

My Brother is going to be attending UW though (heading to dorm Friday), so I might be able to make it up there sometime. I will also be heading up there for another football game on the 29th (Rose bowl team dedication, Grandpa was on the team :)) so I should be able to hit then.

And yeah, I'm 15, so it looks as if I'm the only one under 18. ~3.5-4.0 BTW. I'll send an email or post on here when I have a definitive date or time that I could hit.

Excellent. Let's make a tentative limit of about 12. I don't want to have to keep track of too many guys.

What are we going to do, by the way? Hit around and/or play sets? Does anyone have a preference? I can supply balls for the night, but most are not in great shape.

We could hit around see how it feel. Maybe a few sets friendly double :) Or somebody hardcore to challenge for a single. hehe. Everybody bring a can of ball? That would good enough, I guess.

Let get a counts of who in, diredesire, midlife, travlerjam, tennisp13(that me), Patp, Joeman957 (total 6). Did I miss anybody? please chimp in

I have access to a ball cart. Bring a can if you'd like just in case they're all dead. The teams/instructors are going to get a refresh of balls this fall, so we're in the "dead" zone right now as far as balls go.

I just donated a hopper full of once-used balls to my son's junior high team to practice, but I think that if everyone brings a can of balls, we'll be in great shape.

Can we park in the Montlake parking lot? Also, are there facilities to grab a quick shower afterwards?

You can park right in front of the tennis center for free since it's after 12:00 on Saturday.
Sorry, no shower unless diredesire can smuggle you into the team locker room.

Well, I've been rooting through the garage for cool racquets to bring. I've got an Ergonom, a T2000, a Jack Kramer woodie with SPPP, POG from the middle 1980's, a Wilson Ultra II Mid, an AMF Graphite Edge, a Prince Precision Graphite with the fiber bridge, and a Chang Longbody strung with a P2/Megaforce hybrid.

Anybody have any cool racquets? Maybe if everyone brings a woodie, we can have a wood racquet tournament. . .

Let's discuss lockers after we get there. I don't want to be held liable for things I write on a message board ;)

I don't have anything interesting. I'm interested in checking out the T2k and the ergonom, though. Are you interested in selling your chang? My friend is looking for an extended length racquet..

I bought it about a year ago just to see what it was like. It's no more than 6/10 if even that, but yeah I'd be okay with parting with it. I'll make sure I bring it. Will your friend be there?

looks like we're going to have a pretty successful meet...

I might not be able to hit too much, we may have a butt load of team frames dropped off for stringing that weekend. My roommate and I (both stringers for the teams) will be present and probably on and off the court.

I think i'll try and split my time evenly between videographing, photographing, and hitting in the event :)

If nothing else, it should be a well documented meet!

Add vinky and shooter mcmarco to the list... what's our head count up to?

I hope the racquet isn't too customized for you. I've got about 1 1/2 ounces of added weight due to a shrink wrap sleeve on the grip and lead around the hoop. We'll fiddle around with it if it isn't to your liking.

My son might come along if he's feeling okay. If so, there'll be a couple of PDR+ to try as well.
