Great meeting you today. Always nice to meet people from the TW Boards who are really nice and good players you could have a good hit with.

    Look forward to playing again.

Just curious...does this chapter include the Naples portion of South Florida? It's looking like we'll (me, wife, kids) be visiting my parents over X-mas at the World Tennis Center (across the street from Acadamia Sanchez Casal ). It's hard for me to find good hitting as most people there are retired.

There are a few people at my level (4.5), but I'm always interested in hitting w/ other people.

Naples is around 2 hours to the West of most of us.

Yeah, I sometimes fly in & out of FLL as its cheaper than RSW (Regional South West, aka Ft Myers), but I thought I'd take a chance.

I should have added or about 5 hours North of me when I am in Key West

We've done that the last two times, spending a few days @ Disney & Universal. This time we're flying into Tampa & hitting Busch Gardens. We've done the Virginia Busch Gardens countless times, but the kids haven't done the Florida one yet.

    Rock on!!

Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, we didn't talk politics,,,,, just a little tennis.

Now I want to know when the rest of the Orlando crew is coming down? Or am I going to have to drive up there to shape you guys up? I hear it is not as humid as it was last night. Poor tebow was surprised how humid it gets down here.

As a kid, the Virginia Busch Gardens was superior but they have added a lot of rides in Tampa since then. Good luck with Naples, your best bet is probably to find a local pro.

Southeast and Southwest Florida are SO humid compared to here. We get hotter temperature wise but I'll take that over the humidity. As for coming down there, we just don't make it that way very often. My wife has a friend in Fort Lauderdale that we see every few years but other than that and maybe the Sony, we just don't have a reason to go down there. We would love to have you come up here sometime to hit and maybe we can get some stringing tips too.

The pro at WTC is Pavel Slozil, Steffi's old coach. To watch the guy hit is amazing. Barely any effort, great hands, great control.

I've watched him hit with some of the juniors, and the kids are bashing the ball, and he's just gliding around the court, putting the ball in the corner, then he gets a short ball, and Bam! Points over.

Dates are marked on my calendar: Oct 17th - 24th, I believe? I need to ensure they don't disassemble the clay courts by then.

Yeah, but I know the owner real well & it shouldn't be a problem. I've played into November on the clay, but you never know. I'll check w/ them this week.

It's hard to explain the vibe at the club, but it really is a small-town feel. I've been there for 18 years, and I'm not even considered 'old school'. Most of the guys grew up & went to school here. The pros hit on a regular basis w/ the top players, and not only is there no charge for lesson, but we'll actually split the court fees.

We all hang out together outside of tennis as well, whether it be golf, poker, or just watching football.

    Greetings South Florida Chapter,

My 17 year old boy is going for his 1st atp points playing F1-F4 in January. F1-F3 are in Plantation, Sunrise and Weston, respectively.

It would be great to find someone connected to the local tennis scene to host him during the tournament, in which initial checkin would be Jan 25th.

If anyone is, or knows anyone that my be interested. Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi. I play at a place called Sunrise Athletic Complex or my apartment complex. I was thinking of joining this club on Oakland park near my place. They have 16 courts and I was thinking I might be able to meet some people through there. I can drive somewhere else to play too.

I looked on craigs list, but people were asking for 4.0's or 5.0 ranked players. I'm not ranked, because I have never played leagues. I actually need to hire someone to teach me the fundamentals of serving, because I have none. I've just been working on my forehand and backhand with follow thru and power and some spin. And getting back into shape as I am 34 years old.

I was playing with some people before, but they weren't good at all. But then I met a guy at the park and it felt like I was playing a pro. I couldn't even deal with the power he was hitting with as I was falling everywhere. Haha. Eventually I became more comfortable with it and started dishing out my own pace on the ball. The problem now is that I rarely find someone that is at the park alone, and the one group of friends that can play, don't go that often.

I want to improve and play against more experienced players because I would like to enter competitions. I've always loved tennis and especially watching the pro's, but I'm a bit late at actually wanting to get as good as I can in the game.

Get in touch with me (via the contact thing in my TT profile) and I can put you in touch with lots of players at your skill level.

tennisftlauderdale.com might be perfect for you. The partner program is free for the first month. Just sign up. The seasonal leagues are cheaper than any of the alternatives and lots of fun. (with prizes, etc.) I've met lots of nice people and some good tennis players.

There are members in your area, and scattered all over Broward County and Boca Raton. Players are from 3.0 to 4.25 competitive levels.

You're not late getting started or wanting to get as good as you can. You're young. I'm 65 and basically just getting started. Never too late. No time limit on wanting to improve and working toward that. Email me ... your tennis life will change drastically (for the better). :)

I am looking at the link you gave me. I am definately saving it. It looks like a great resource. I was lucky to find two hitting partners today. One was an older man and he was nice enough to help me out with the mechanics of my swing. I love tennis. :)

I was looking at the description of the ratings and I don't think I even qualify for the lowest 1.5 NTRP Rating, because I can't serve yet. I mean I can ease the ball in the box, but as far as an actual serve, I haven't been taught yet. I can surely hit the ball in a rally with forehand and backhand, but the lack of serve makes me not rated. Sorry for all the posts. I am excited, because I am finally getting lucky and running into people at the park to hit with and now you have given me a great chance to meet up with others. :)
