What do i need to buy to be able to tell if my stringer is accurate? I have had it for about 8 years and ive never had it checked.

Yep, if you're only going to get one, I like the digital luggage scales, as well. I'd check cal on a known good weight, but those devices are surprisingly accurate. I think they're much more useful than the spring loaded calibrators, the scales are super tiny, with 5 lbs being represented by ~2mm on a shaft. Digital readout is nice, and with generally well fabricated strain gauges, the linearity and cal are generally pretty good.

I am going to look down the road to see if there's a nice way to output data to check momentary overshoots, etc, but that's low on my life priority list right now.

Digital luggage scales are also cheap at <$10 including shipping on the popular auction site.

also, whether a spring scale or a digital model, it's best to get ahold of some kevlar string to rig them up with to minimize/eliminate stretch in the calibration scale/system.

i use both type scales just for alittle extra feelgood. they don't always match exactly but i make a few pulls with each and if consistent and within "my" expectations, i'm good. i never expect to get a "dead on" number with said devices, just damn close.

^^True if you have a lockout but if it is constant pull it should not matter.
