Back in 2010 one of the first threads I ever started was in regards to trying to get a bump to 4.5.

Goober made what I thought was an insightful post at that time. He pointed out that how one gets bumped is more important than that one gets bumped. This among other things motivated me to work on my game and it has been documented in this thread.

I took your advice to heart Goober ... I made sure that in each match I tried to play the toughest opponenet I could. I made a large investment in trainging, lessons and fitness. We won our state 3 times and were respectable in Sectionals each time. I was bumped in December.

So I am 10 matches into my 1st season as a 4.5. So far things have been going well as I am 7-3 in that time. Five of those wins have come in mixed ... if you only count adult men at this point I am 2-1 on the season.

In our first two matches we played against weak 4.5's and dispatched them quite easily ..... However, this morning we played a rock solid 4.5 team and had our collective clocks cleaned 2 and 2. I suspect that puts my partner and I as an average to slightly below average 4.5 doubles team. Goober's advice was solid and I took it to heart.

I dont really have a question .... just wanted to give Goober some props...
