I predict a lot of quick and easy two setters this week so that should hopefully leave him fresh for WTF.

Raonic better defeat Novak to give Federer a shot at taking back the number 1 ranking at Australia.

Now that Roger isn't in the draw. I am cheering for Delpo. I remember Delpo once doing the impossible winning 4 Tournaments in a row in 4 consc weeks(2008 Summer HC season,3 250,1 500).

If he wins Paris and then goes on to win WTF....he would equal it. This however would be worht more with a 250,500, MS1000 and 1500....to make it more prestigous.

I'm really hoping either Murray or Del Potro wins this as neither has won Paris-Bercy before. Murray needs to avoid going without a Masters title for the first time in 5 years and Paris-Bercy is his last chance. Del Potro, on the other hand, urgently needs to add a Masters title to his CV. If Berdych,Tsonga and Soderling can all do it in Paris, then so can he. For the first time in a long while, he seems to be playing well enough to do it as his back to back wins in Vienna and Basel have just shown.

Djokovic meh. He's already regained the #1 ranking with Fed's withdrawal, he already has 3 Masters titles this year and has already won Paris-Bercy anyway (2009). He doesn't need it. The other 2 top seeds do.

If my calculations are correct, Murray would have a shot at YE no 2 if he wins Paris. That said, Murray has never made it past the QFs at Bercy.

High time he put that one right, then. It would be ironic if the Paris title eludes him as it was the only Masters title the 2 previous British number 1s, Henman and Rusedski, ever managed to win!

True, even if he lost in the final, Murray will have a chance in WTFs, but Fed needs to lose all 3 matches, which is not very realistic...

Even if he Murray won Paris it would be a long shot - Roger would probably have to lose in the groups or in the semis having lost a group match and Murray would need to win WTF.

Should first wait for the Murray's result in Paris, he would probably play in SF vs Berdych, a very tough opponent for Murray...

I think Murray will tank the match vs Cilic unless Cilic decides to choke it away badly

I'd rather see Murray win in London than trying to go all out in Paris but come up short at the WTF again.

Last year he made the mistake of overplaying, trying to finish the year ahead of Federer. I hope he doesn't make the same mistake again.

Kudos to him if he can pull it off, but I can't see the Paris finalist/winner winning the WTF, though stranger things have happened obviously.

I tend to agree with you. I said before the event that I thought he would withdraw from Paris and I'm a bit disappointed that he hasn't. Maybe Cilic in R3 is an opportunity to keep Paris to light warm up.

Grandpa Fed won Basel, Paris and WTF at 30 years. Murray can't win Paris and WTF ?

For all the hype and the year of 2013 being just to decide for Nole Vs Murray, Murray can't achieve 2 consecutive tournament victories ?

Looking to the draw, Murray and Ferrer may have favorible sections. Nole has a tough line up with Querry/Verdasco in R2, possible Raonic in R3, and possible Del Potro/Isner in R4 and possible Ferrer/ Tsonga in SF

I'd like to think Murray's whole side of the draw is much less imposing (poss Cilic in R3, poss Monaco/Tipsarevic R4 and poss Berdych/Gasquet/Nishikori in SF) I would be surprised if he didn't feel he had a great shot at this tournament.

I understand the logic that some are predicting an early pull out (to save it for London) but truthfully, with Federer out, his side of the draw is shaped nicely for a great result. I could see him really pushing for this title. We'll see.

Actually he hasn't locked up the #2 ranking just yet.. If Murray wins Paris and London with Federer not scoring at the WTF, HE will end the year #2. Completely plausible if Federer gets drawn with Murray, Berdych and Tsonga in his group.

Last direct acceptance into Paris was 47 ranked player, that's when you figure in the first round byes, WCs and qualifiers. That means you can be ranked in the top 50 and not even get into a Masters tournament, and have to play the qualifying for $1500.

Looking very good for Murray this draw...the scheduling is bananas with WTF the week after, but he's really got to go for this one I think.

Effin Klizan was up 5-2 in the 3rd set TB against Seppi with 2 points on serve and manages to lose those 2 points and the next 3 as well to lose the match

If he won 2 and lost in the semis and Murray won both tournaments (without a RR loss) Fed would also end #3.

Murray has won 2 consecutive tournaments at least twice, he's also won 3 tournaments in 3 consecutive weeks before. Not sure what your point is mate.

As others have pointed out, Basel/WTF and Paris were not back to back last year - also, Roger toook the entire Asian swing off to enable him to have a run at Basel/Paris/WTF.

Is it me or is the court speed as fast as in 2010 or at least close to it. Last year they slowed it down but it looks like its lightning fast again

With Paris and the WTF being played back to back, it would make sense for the Paris court to be built to the same spec as WTF - so no doubt that hasn't happened.

Why? Since when is Paris a warmup? This is starting to become beyond ridiculous. Nadal and Djokovic claiming that claycourts should play like the French, and when the French changes, it should play the same every year, unless it favours them (like swtiching back) than it's all good. Paris was the fastest premier event around and it should stay that way imo. Just like they shouldn't speed up Monte Carlo. I think tennis has done a horrible horrible job of making the surfaces so homogized and choosing grinding (AO and USO 12) over great shotmaking and touch at the net.

Might as well ruin Bercy too.

Djokovic complaining on facebook he is feeling ill, early tank in Paris pending.

Looks like my Tsonga pick for Paris isn't that far off the mark for the ATP fantasy.

Anyone else love the angle they're showing the Paris Masters at? Especially on the 2nd court like the one Lopez and Ramos are on. The angle is superb

Why would you think so? Lopez ranked 36, Ramos 48, that's not a big difference at all. Also, Ramos has already beaten Lopez once on hardcourts this year, the head-to-head is 1-0 in Ramos's favor even before this match.

  49. Simon is a grear player!!! I love him second to the muzz!! I base my game around him, I love making my oppenents miss, rarely taking the intiative in the rally and grinding them down until they break their racquets and inside I am like :)

Lopez match was fixed for sure. All Lopez was doing was constantly slicing the ball.
