yeah, return of serves can be annoying. try holding R1 and stepping forward just before your opponent makes contact. it usually results in a stronger return from your player.

I'm going to have to disagree with you again. i find movement in GST2 is less automated than in TS4. Top Spin 4 snaps you into place a lot sooner than any other tennis game currently out. not saying it's a bad thing since it allows you to focus more on timing your shots, but GST2 allows more freedom in movement than Top Spin 4. GST2 has its flaws, but movement is a good blend of TS4 and Virtua tennis.

Like I said before, the critics and most people prefered TS4, the problem is that TS3 was released at a time when tennis popularity was at an all time high. Sales are not a great figure for quality of game.

    Not true!

Most do not prefer TS4, if so TS4 would have higher sales!

    TS4's movement sucks!

Also, do you really think 'critics' take any tennis game seriously:confused:?

Not at all, tennis games are not popular enough to warrant real main stream media criticism; especially the newer tennis games which have languished in sales (including TS4)!

Critics don't know what to look for in a tennis game.

Mario Tennis 64 blows away any game I've ever played, though I really liked the original Virtua Tennis.

I love aces (and so does my friend!!). I had practiced Mario Tennis to hell but before he gave up because of boredom early in the 2nd set he had already served around 30 aces (I had around 25) and that was over what was originally supposed to be a 5 set match and the first 2 sets had ended 6-4 7-6 in his favor. But that's the general thing everytime we play. There's always tons of aces yet the scoreline is unbelievably lopsided. Or it could just account to how easy you can ace other players on Mario Tennis...

After spending more time with topspin 2 and 3, my vote for best in the series is 3. There are elements of 4 I like more, but from an overall perspective, 3 is the best.

I forgot how good the career mode was in 3. The junior tour element was cool, and it felt the most real to me.

I still need to rent GS2, but everyone seems disappointed.

you can play it today and still have tons of fun

I downloaded the demo to Tennis Elbow 2011 this weekend and was very impressed. Graphics certainly aren't great, and neither is the user interface, but I find the gameplay to be fantastic. And you can play from a 1st person perspective! :)

seconded, player graphics aren't the best but courts, crowds, shot animations and gameplay look very realistic.

Here is a good point from tennis elbow. See and judge yourself ;)

    Damn that video is fantastic.

LOL at first I actually thought it was Federer and Djokovic really playing. Animations are definitely head and shoulders above anything else I have seen.

    Going to download this.

Yeah, the game is great. Regular tennis elbow doesn't look quite that nice, but if you get the ITST Mod for it, you'll get many 2d courts that are very realistic.

Same if you get Sam's Mod. Both are great mods for this game, but pretty large downloads.

There's also various sound, animation, and clothing mods; I use a US Open shot sounds mod myself.
