I've been to about 12 concerts this year. The best show of the year for me was last night October 6th 2012, The Black Keys at Staples Center. Damn good show and my favorite of the year. What about you? What was the best live concert/show/performance you've seen this year?

God thats a hard question, many were great and some downright bad.
In my book its a draw between Ryan Adams and Toto.

Either St. Vincent at Shepherd's Bush Empire which involved her crowdsurfing during her last song and accidentally booting someone in the face or Elvis Costello & the Imposters at the Royal Albert Hall.

Peter Gabriel, this past weekend at Hollywood Bowl. Played the entire classic So album from 25 years ago from beginning to end, and played lots of his other best stuff too. I'd been looking forward to it for months and was well rewarded.

I loved The Format too, but I also love fun.

Seeing them live made me appreciate them even more.

They were in my college campus last semester, some weeks before "We are Young" really exploded. A lot of people were talking about them, but I didn't go to the show. It was in a real small venue too, which I like.

Usually i go to several concerts per year. This year it was only one, so by default that was my favorite of 2012.

Aerosmith and Cheap Trick at the Hollywood Bowl

Saw Ketch and Critter of Old Crow Medicine Show do a two man show earlier this year. One of my favorite bands of the last few years. Also saw Mason Jennings for the upteenth time last month and he was solid, as always.

    Best Concert

I was going to go with Wilco but this past weekend I saw Branford Marsalis play for almost 2 hours solo in Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. The church has about a 6-7 second echo. Between the tunes he picked and the way he pointed his sax, the echo of the church became integral to the songs; certain notes seemed to just go on forever. Almost hypnotic but absolutely incredible

drewski711, that sounds wonderful - he's such a genius to begin with. That said, I'm not sure I'm following correctly, please help me out: when you said echo, did you mean echo as in a singular note repeating or "answering itself" after a 6-7 second delay or did it SUSTAIN (think of it as reverb) making that note "go on and on" for 6-7 seconds after first played? Thx.

Florence and the Machine last week Oct 10th in Albuquerque. It was her final headlining show in the USA and it was a religious experience.

    How was it?

I was going to visit friends in Wigan( Go pie eating Latics :) ) early next year then go up to Scotland and see SR there but that's not happening so I got tickets instead for their gig at Madison Square Garden in March.
