How likely is that the great ladies of the past set up a tour similar to the men's senior tour? I know it would be difficult, cause some of them are mommies. But wouldn't it be great to see them in action again against each other.

I am thinking: Steffi Graf - Gabriela Sabatini - Chris Evert - Martina Navratilova - Monica Seles - the 2 oldest Maleeva sisters - Aranxta Sanchez - Conchita Martinez - Pam Shriver - Jana Novtona - Helena Sukova - Amanda Coetzer. Who would win? I think it would be close amongst the top three, Steffi, Martina and Monica.

I don't think it would be close.

Condoleeza I agree. Martina and Monica would be the top two with Graf as a distant third (or worse..unless one of the other girls was stabbed to help Graf win more matches)

Monica never won more than two consecutive matches against Graf and Steffie's record against her was 6-4 at the time of Seles' stabbing.

So enough with this stupid b*tching. Graf always was the superior player.

Another one. WChiang, please do this in all the other threads you already have f uc ked up. Now I really know the moderators here are Seles fans. They ban one fanatical Graf poster, yet all the garbage post about Seles they allow.

The mods here only show up when good honest posters get so pissed with the trolling that they say a few kind words to the culprits, upon when the mods unleash a tirade on the person who was coerced into exploding with rage or, in certain cases, obvious sarcasm.

In other words, we'll all either be banned or leave and the trolls will stay.

WChiang..too funny to see you accurately call out the name changing Condoleeza/Borat72 and giving him a taste of his own medicine. I agree that Navratilova and Seles (until the German stabbed her) were better than Graf. The Graf nuts in this thread need to get a life. She was a great player but not the GOAT. Sorry fellas.

What "garbage posts" about Seles? WCHIANG is entitled to his opinion. Also, Condoleeza (or Borat, or whatever he is using today) needs to get lost. Talk about pathetic trolls...warriorroger/cyborg/Condi/Borat. Its actually kinda comical.

I don't think we'll see a "senior tour" for the women. And if we did, I doubt Graf, Sabatini, or Evert would participate. Because we do have seniors womens events at Wimbledon, the US Open, and Cincinnati (for about 10 years until this year). Graf, Sabatini, nor Evert have ever participated in any of those events.

There was a group of seniors that put on a good show with about 8 to 10 events a year in the late 90's with Martina, King, Austin, Garrison, Shriver, Morozova, Casals, Wade, and Turnbull among the regulars. Evert and Mandlikova made occasional appearances. They attracted crowds of up to 5,000 in some cities in the beginning. But then Martina started competing in doubles on the tour again and Shriver started having babies. It was more like team tennis than tournament tennis though. They played several pro sets in singles and doubles.

I saw King, Martina, Shriver, Garrison, Austin, and Morozova in 1997. It was very lighthearted with a lot of crowd participation. And the tennis was very good quality. They may not move as fast or hit as hard, but they still knew how to open up the court and hit winners.

Best that I can remember, Shriver defeated Martina in singles, and Garrison defeated Austin. Then Martina and King teamed up to beat Shriver and Morozova.

It was definitely worth the price and effort to see them play. So I would like to see your idea come to fruition.

If you get a chance, check out the seniors doubles and mixed doubles events at Wimbledon and the US Open. I saw Novotna, Sukova, Fernandez, Zvereva, McNeil, Mandlikova, Lindqvist and Nideffer at Wimbledon this year. It wasn't as lighthearted as I expected and very competitive.
