I don't know where else to write this so I"ll write it in this thread. The Jankovic/Cohen match is by far the worst professional tennis match I have ever watched in my life. They are literally just hitting the ball really high in the air back and forth to each other. Then one of them will randomly go for a winner or something.

Nope, going to a 3rd set. I'm sure Jankovic will lose. I don't understand why she is still playing. She doesn't have it anymore.

I dunno... do you think the $90,000 she's made in the first 2 months of 2013 has something to do with it?

Sounds like she's still in pretty good physical shape if she can go 3 sets at 8000 feet. (And she won the 3rd set 6-2.)

Well if she's doing it for the money then I guess she can continue. She is not nearly the player she used to be though. She is one of my favorite players and she has slowed down dramatically.

I am hoping for the former, i.e. that Kvitova blows Radwanska off the court.

Kvitova, if she can hang in there and not become an error machine. She should be the winner amongst the pack left. If she is not, something is very wrong because she is the best player out of the women left. She'll probably find a way to mess it up though.

Petrova-Errani: Hoping Petrova swats the italian fly off the court, but something tells me she'll find a way to mess it up.

Vinci-Stosur: Going with Vinci...she seems to give players trouble with her variety and Stosur is not known for being much of a problem solver on the court.

Kvitova-Radwanska: Impossible to tell because Kvitova's form is so erratic...Petra should win but I can easily picture Radwanska getting under her skin with her great defense and making Kvitova go error-mode.

Wozniacki-Bartoli: I have no idea what Caroline's form is like because I haven't watched a match of hers in over a year (because really, who wants to watch that?) but Bartoli certainly has the tools to take this one in straight sets--and here's to hoping she does that!

(No. 16) Vinci vs (No. 9) Stosur
I didn't predict either player woudl get this far, much less in straight sets. I've been more impressed with Stosur thus far though, so I'll go for her in 3.

    Head2Head: 1-0 Stosur (1-0 on Hard)

Winner to face: (No.12) Petrova/(No.7) Errani

(No. 12) Petrova vs (No. 7) Errani
Errani didn't win any of her matches, she just didn't lose them either. Competent defensively, almost nothing on offence. I'm optimistically predicting Petrova will just out hit her. Straights for Nadia.

    Head2Head: 1-1 (1-1 on Hard)

    Winner to face: (No.16) Vinci/ (No.9) Stosur

(No. 6) Kerber vs (No. 16) Vinci
Kerber's first match, and she's had a bit of a nightmare start to 2013 and has only played one match in the last month; so I fancy a close one here. But Kerber in 3; 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.

    Head2Head: 1-1 (1-0 Vinci on Hard)

    Winner to face: (No.9) Stosur/ (No.22) Hsieh

(No. 10) Wozniacki vs (No. 11) Bartoli
Say what you want about Caroline, she's getting some strong results - this one will be Caroline in 2.

    Head2Head: 2-2 (2-1 Woz on Hard)

    Winner to face: (No.8 ) Kvitova/ (No.4) A. Radwanska

    (No. 8 ) Kvitova vs (No. 4) A. Radwanska
The tie of the round, on paper at least. Aga may not be the person to blow anyone off the court, but she made it look difficult against the very inexperienced Putintseva. I think Petra is looking too strong, and will have a winners:UE ratio greater than 1, and will win in 2.

    Head2Head: 3-1 Kvitova (2-1 on Hard)

    Winner to face: (No.10) Wozniacki/ (No.11) Bartoli

    So, I think

    SFs:
    Petrova v Stosur
    Kvitova v Wozniacki

    Final:
    Petrova v Wozniacki

And I think Wozniacki will win the tournament.

Vinci was great today... great shot making, point construction and volleying. Aggressive all court tennis. Impressive.

Stosur fought well, but Vinci was a level above.

what was that long break about? (Errani Vs. Petrova). This is a competitive sport not a tea party.

missed the 2nd set after the first game, had a meeting... Errani played a good 3rd set though and took the match.

she plays Vinci, her doubles partner, for her next match.

Bartoli starts the 3rd up 2-0 but 4 straight games by Woz has made it 4-2.

Exactly. Serena wants to play as little as possible and still maintain #1. At her age, this is very smart since she is going to become more and more injury-prone as she ages. Not so great for the fans.

Errani/Vinci..........................................oh excuse me, I fell asleep just thinking about that one.

Kvitova/Wozniacki - Petra must win. If she loses to Wozniacki.....what an embarrassment that would be. Caroline barely managed to beat Bartoli who hit over a dozen double faults and god only knows how many UFEs. Something tells me Kvitova will be able to keep control of the rallies more than Marion and I doubt she will miss as many shots.

Just caught the 3rd set of Woz-Bartoli. Why was the Tennis Channel announcer so far up Bartoli's skirt? I thought he was going to burst near the end there.

    Yes, Errani/Vinci. Zzzzzzz.

Re Kvitova, she better win! She should be able to defeat Wozniacki, she has the last few times they have played.
