Let's hope Vinci takes out Errani and Kvitty takes out Wozzy.

On the other hand a Woz/Errani final would be utterly unwatchable!

It would be a 3hr overindulgent dragged out grindfest like Errani's match vs. Radwanska at the YEC.

it means you won a bunch of low level titles outside the 2 majors so how could she be more deserving then someone with 15 majors who dominates her.

and don't be silly woz never had the advantage of a stabbed rival.:)

But she had the advantage of injured/ill Serena, part-time playing/inconsistent Clijsters, double-faulting Pova and inconsistent players like Kvitova, Li and Sam, who like posting massive loosing streaks))) Does that count?)

Well it's a good job we're comparing like with like; Renka's definitely been on tour as long as Serena.

Your argument just makes no sense - comparing Renka's majors count with Serena? Whatever next? Comparing weeks at #1?

    Drop me out.

but you were the one talking about rightful #1(granted it was tongue in cheek). serena had the better overall year last year. aza hadher best year and it's still below serena, hence why ms. w won poy. but it is all fun no hard feelings...:)

(No. 14) Vinci vs (No. 7) Errani
Errani is enough to bore me to tears - please win this Roberta. Underwhelmed by the both of them. Vinci in 2. Please, Vinci in 2...

    Head2Head: 4-2 Errani (2-2 on Hard)

Winner to face: (No.8) Kvitova/(No.10) Wozniacki

(No. 8) Kvitova vs (No. 10) Wozniacki
Kvitova looked really good at times yesterday, but also looked streaky. Got a feeling Wozni might take this, and I picked her to win this tournament a few days ago and I'm sticking with it. Wozni; 7-5,4-6,6-3
    Head2Head: 4-3 Kvitova(3-1 on Hard)

    Winner to face: (No.14) Vinci/ (No.7) Errani

Wozniacki v Vinci in the final, Wozni in 3.

just reading that Vinci & Errani spend 'over 300 days a year' together. However you cut that, that's a long time. Wonder if there'll be no celebration like when Errani won at the USO...

Yeah, and Errani will probably play much more quietly, just like at the USO.

Because grunting is disrespectful to one's opponent, and we can't be doing it to our chums.

Watched a replay of this match yesterday on TC, that was a classic "girl with the curl" match from Kvitova. Loved how she took the match out of Radwanska's hands; it was completely on Petra's racquet to hit or miss.

this one's over, Errani skips into the final. Did she celebrate, or did she just weep for her dear friend?

Onto the proper SF tie we go. Bring it, Caroline.

Les-B-honest here, neither of them are the most feminine girls on tour...do i smell a little scandal?

Here's to hoping Petra sends Errani whimpering (or manly shouting?) into Vinci's arms tomorrow.

I'm watching the rebroadcast of the Kvitova-Wozniacki semifinal match and it's as though I'm watching the Kvitova of 2011. Her ball striking is awesome. She looks confident and in charge. She is at ease at the net. She looked so lost on the court last year. If she keeps this form I am looking forward to good things from her this year. She should easily handle Errani tomorrow.

It is not just between Serena and Victoria re who will win the FO in the women's game. Neither player is particularly great on clay and there are certainly other players in the top ten who could be candidates (Li Na, Kvitova (even though she is not great on clay), Sharapova, etc. A lot will depend on the draw as well. Same goes for other slams such as Wimbledon and the USO, it is not just a two-horse race between Serena and Victoria imo. Those others I mentioned above are right up there with chances.

Quite right, about 6 ladies who could win it. As a contest, more interesting than the men's game right now.

    romeo8880 with the jinx!!

haha... seriously though. Errani seems to have a way of getting her opponents to implode. is it the junkballing or just the constant retrieving?

yeah.. a set long blip caused by errani serving an volleying!

Kvitova shoudl add serve and volley to her arsenal. i can see it hurting a lot of players and would give her something to fall back on when her groundstrokes are going long.

Yep. I'd also like to see her develop a well disguised drop shot when her opponents are standing so far back from her vicious ground strokes.

i didn't either one won would win the french, but duncan said she(vika) wouldn't lose another match. i just pointed out i could name 5 potential loses.

and as far as wimbledon goes, serena has won 3 of the last 4, made the final of 4 out of the 5 and made the qf in her 2nd tourney back from a year long injury.

at the us, since 2008 she has made at least the semis when she has played and won twice. the only thing stopping her for a little while was the line judge controversy but after winning last year that is all behind her now.

everyone has a fighting chance but serena to me controls the draw....and vika is dangerous on hc but falls to the pack everywhere else but she is improving.

Worth noting my tongue was well in cheek, but we shall see. She's begun the year well, that my was veiled point. :)

Anyway, massive congrats to Petra for her 8th career title (from memory?), only a week until IW!

It's her 10th title. It would be great if she's turned a corner and is ready to join the fight with Serena, Azarenka and Sharapova. We need the Big 4 in women's tennis just like they have on the men's side.

Yeah, that'd be superb. Need Petra to keep her game consistent and Maria to raise her game against Serena and we'll have a very competitive field at the top.
