And another loss for DY, at least he took the first set before laying down in 3 straight.
Donald is going to complain that he just doesn't play well on grass. and he doesn't. last year, he lost in early rounds too looking like challenger level player at best
Tignor mentioned that this in last week article but sarcastically he said Young is just half way
USTA should not given him ay wildcard anymore sometime easy success get into your mind and u forget to work hard and thats what happening with DY.
4 set loss to Youzny isn't a bad result. On the other hand, it's not a good result and doesn't do anything for him in terms of points.
Easy success? where is the easy success?
Losing streak was under threat today after the first set against Russell at Newport; but The Donald stayed weak to lose 6-1, 1-6, 4-6.
Way to keep the streak going!
Never fails. Always one great set and drift along the rest.
Losing streak of 13 now, right? Why is he on the Olympic team again?
cause the USTA cant produce any better,
I think USTA members should have a class action suit and get back however much of our money went into him!
Sam Querrey and Brian Baker are better (Mardy Fish too, but he chose not to play).
Right now, Querrey is ranked ahead of Young and in Baker's case since he only started playing on the ATP tour again a few months ago...ATP 2012 race standings: Baker - 49, Young - 171.
Rules and deadlines getting in the way I guess.
He hasnt gotten any WCs since last yrs US Open. And the ones he did get last yr, he earned.
This losing streak has nothing to do with WCs.
Baker or Querrey should definitely be on there instead of DY, what a joke.
Young plays W/C Steve Johnson in the 1st round of the Atlanta Open this evening.
If he can't beat the current NCAA men's champion (currently ranked 402), he's in for a rough summer....
That's for sure...
Since he's representing the US in the Olympics in a couple of weeks, he's in desperate need of a couple of wins to at least build some kind of self confidence going into it.
Well maybe he will draw Alex Bogomolov at some point. I bet all the players have their fingers crossed when the draw comes out they get either DY or AB. Their rankings are both gonna plummet and eventually they can drop down and win some matches at challengers or qualifying.
Some of those qualies have some good good talent though, and unlike main draw guys, some of these guys will be hungrier to win. In a way, some of those guys might be harder.
The Donald's losing streak ends now!
Steve Johnson up 4-1 early on.
Not looking good so far for the Donald. Johnson has a better serve and is tougher mentally. Donald probably has the better backhand and moves a bit better. I would expect Johnson to eventually be a top 100 player (possibly top 50). Also, Johnson is cheating way to his right to take forehand returns and the Donald can not take advantage of it.
Is donald going for 14 or 15?
R u there, or watching a stream??
Donald losing to a college graduate Steve Johnson ? what is wrong with this picture ?
I don't see anything wrong with it. 17 year old Rafael Nadal was incredible.
Worse is Steve Johnson took the last couple months off to heal from injuries (came back last week on Grass at Newport). He looks a bit rusty. Do you think Donald could have the collegiate winning streak that Steve Johnson had? I mean very successful pro players like Isner and Anderson werent able to.
1st set to Steve Johnson 6-3. That final game must have gone at least 10 minutes. Donald had at least 5 break points.
lol this is really pathetic.
Spadea is getting worried
My stream is terrible. Anybody got a good one?
DY looking a bit better to even up the match, but you just never know with the Don.
Big Don pulls out the 2nd set. he is supposed to beat steve johnson at this stage of their careers.
Ahhh Donny Donny Donny. Throwing your racket in a rage, then griping to your Mom will not win you this match.
Steve Johnson has a real nice game, I must admit. Pretty to watch. Love his forehand!
Both of DY's wins this year have been in deciding sets, a good omen maybe. Then again, he is 2-6 overall.
Break to Steve.
lol this is like an amateur match. This guy is going for aces on his second serve.
This match has turned seriously ugly. So many errors on both sides.
I need to know how Donald Young is ranked as high as he is. He's really, really bad.
Gosh, you guys are odd. A decline in form means the end from your point of view!
I guess it's the same old story with every pro player, sigh!
Really good year last year when he had an actual coach and not an albatross Mom and a bunch of fat people in his box. Got to 39.
Had no real points to defend, so he didn't lose anything of note. He will now.
Indeed. I hate to bash on these guys since they are professionals and the rest of us aren't, but this has to be one of the worst ATP-level matches I've seen in a long time.
And because Rui Machado has made Tennis a part time affair, Donny Boy's statistically the worst player in the ATP, with Kunitsyn second.
lol Steve Johnson.
And Steve Johnson wins!!
Wow, DY's gone...6-3 3-6 6-3. Let out this primal yell of frustration after the match.
Congrats to Steve Johnson. First ATP win.
Johnson has beaten Young 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Losing has really become a habit with him. Time to be afraid, Spadea
Spadea ain't afraid of ya *losing streak*
What will it take for DY to get a win
How many matches in a row has Young lost now?
14 I believe.
Separate names with a comma.
