    NO!

He has the game to be #1 in the world, and he's a goof off.

Sorry if I don't accept mediocrity because "it's fun".

This is probably my favorite thread on TW BTW.

I trust that it will recieve periodic bumps for as long as Monfils is still playing ('cause we all know he'll never change :))

I wonder why Nike dropped Monfils. The guys shoes get more airtime than anything.

Last time i saw Monfils in a music video by a guy called Solveig, kissing a girl while attending a Roland Garros match between two clowns. Djoker also made a cmeo appearance in this video.

you'd think that nike would be better but if you compare the apparel nike gave monfils to the apparel kswiss gave monfils than monfils is in the advantage.

I "hate" the french, but i love the freaking dude, the one and only out of the whole population in France.

He Is Simply Awesome !!!! that is the guy who give 200% into the game, especially against Fed yesterday when facing 5 match points....... the guy is an awesome athletic.

Last night at the SAP Open Gael was being his usual strange self.

Immediately after breaking Kendrick, he called a trainer to have his LEFT wrist taped.

... Then he hit some 1-handed backhands.... one of which was a clean dtl winner.

Oh, and at one point he slipped and fell.. and then just lay there for 30 seconds for no apparent reason.

Those new pics of him are from the Sampras exhibition i believe, perfect occasion for him to clown around. The next time there's a big charity exhibition they ought to pencil him in gives him a chance to strut around like a peacock and do what he does best clowning around.

Can't stop laughing at all these pics of him on the ground.

So many different possibilities of how he got to that stage !

Would a regular tweener be tame by Monfils standards? I like the facial expression anyway :)

I like Monfils, quite a bit. Fun to watch, and, lest we forget, he DOES have a great game! Someday, though, there is going to be a dramatic on court injury that he experiences. I hope I am not watching that match.

IMO, folks that "don't like Monfils" 9 times out of 10 have not seen him play in person.....

Go to a tourney this year...Cincinatti, Montreal, US Open etc..... watching Monfils practice sessions are worth the price of admission...

and those black/white window-payne k-swiss shorts were sweet.
    Did TW ever sell those?

    Yes and no.
I think you are right, if people say they 'can't stand Monfils'. Not sure how that is possible.
One could say "I don't like his game". Fair statement. Or "he wastes a lot of energy". Another fair statement. Or "he has the talent to be Top 5". Fair statement.
But not standing him? Too entertaining.

I wonder if he was ever mistaken for Steve Urkel in his youth.

I wish he would put some of the effort from his trick shots into actual match play...

but hey he is still one of the most exciting players ever, especially when he gets a win.

Get rid of the pusher forehand and add a fearhand. Keep the trick shots and awesome clothes and you get the best entertainment.

I cut up some new video from an older Monfils match. Tell me if there is really any reason he lets go of his racket when approaching for the volley. It's all about the show !

Should be getting some centre court action at Roland Garros time for him to give us some new moves.

Only gael could do this stuff on a court.

Watching him practice in person is hilarious. I walk in to armstrong at the USO to watch him and Beneteau. One minute he's serving lights out in the set he's playing with julian. Then on a changover while julian decides to take a break and talk with his coach, Gael is trying to hit a ball over the net with his grip. The whole time Roger Rasheed has this WTF look on his face.
