Will Roger make it and be the 6th person to win the Grand Slam? I have to say, as much as I love to see him there, I don't think his chances this year are as good as last year. Although I do feel as a tennisplayer he belongs in that elite group of ''The Grand Slam'' Winners.

Doubt it. The way things are going, I wouldn't be so sure of a career slam for Roger.

However, he does have a shot. He's the only person with a shot this year, obviously, and the only person who's even close to capable of it this generation. And personally, I think it'd be extremely cool if both him and Serena accomplished the Grand Slam in the same year- that'd truly be history in the making.

That would be awesome. I think Fed could do it this year. He can beat everyone on clay except Nadal and Rafa's streak can't go on forever. He'll have 80+ straight wins on clay if he wins the FO which is almost unfathomable.

Hasn't happened yet, so I won't say that he belongs.

And how do you think Serena could win the FO?
She is even worse on clay than her sister.

The same way she won it last time...

I think she still has the ability, IF she gets in good enough shape.

And secondly, if talent/ability ALWAYS decided who won majors, and not people tanking/choking, getting injured, or plain luck, whether it be from easy draws, or key points going your way, then Myskina wouldn't have won the FO in 04. Hingis would have won one in 99. And so on.

Hingis would have won FO in 99?
Hardly possible. Her opponent back then was more talented and had more abilities (won 18 blue-chip slams, Hingis only 2).

Which is why she was down a set and a break in the second.

Then the infamous line call incident. After that, everything went downhill for Hingis. Now, there's two explanations. Either Hingis started playing worse after that, or Graf started playing better.

Either way, it still proves my point. If Hingis was playing worse, then obviously she didn't suddenly loser talent, the same way Graf couldn't have magically gained any.

That is a myth - or a lie, depending on the poster.
Graf still was down one set and one break in the second 30 minutes AFTER this "incident". The matched turned only THEN.

Maybe Hingis has a long fuse .... ?

Or the Graf detractors are simply stone-dumb??

You're avoiding my main point. Either Hingis or Graf changed their game substantially. Logically speaking, they didn't increase their talent or ability over the course of a match.

Graf would NOT have won had both of them had been playing like they were the first set and a half. So the outcome of the match wasn't based completely on skill and ability.

What was that h2h stat you like to post: 5-2 Graf against Seles? The two times Seles beat Graf during that period, were they because Seles was better? You don't think so.

So hypothetically speaking, if Serena was to play, idunno, Henin, on clay, there is a chance Serena would win, no? Regardless of whether she was 'better".

This is silly anyway. You turned a simple statement by me into an argument. Nadal is obviously better than Federer on clay; yet rather than respond to the OP with this, you focus on MY comment. Why? And also, notice how I said that Federer's chances of winning the FO were slim. Yet then I said:

I didn't even voice my opinion of Serena's chances of winning the FO. For all you know, I could have thought her chances were as bad as Federer's.

    And now the facts:
Hingis was one break ahead at the moment of the "line call incident".
And she was one break ahead 30 minutes later when she served for the match.

Guys 'n' Gals, the record books state that Graf won the '99 FO. PERIOD.
