Which player has wanted to win the most? Is it Federer, Petros, Lendl, Borg, Nadal-?

Navratilova. Making a comeback at age 46 is definitely hungry, if a little sad.

Lendl. If McEnroe had worked as hard as Lendl did, Federer could still be no2 in the majors list. Lendl just took what he had and made the most of it.

    Martina?

Sad? I don't see it that way...she really gave mixed doubles a shot in the arm....not like she was embarrasing herself out there...

    hungriest

lots of names come to mind: Lendl, Connors, Fed, Sampras even...

not sure how I'd rank them...they all hate(d) to lose a match

Connors played past his prime, true...competitive spirit kept him, well...competitive! Prime case of mind driving body past its physical limits...

    Nalbandian is the answer.

He may say that he's out because of "hip surgery" this season, but I suspect the real reason might have something to do with a massive quantity of buffet coupons he somehow incurred.

Does no one remember that Lendl tanked a lot of his matches? The guy was a serious workhorse off-court, but on-court he was prone to big meltdowns.

Federer: "I'm the greatest. In tennis. In wii sports, in everything"
Nalbandian: "Maybe in tennis. But not in my arena. You may be No.1 in the grass court and hardcourt. But I'm no.1 in the foodcourt!"
    Nalbandian: I challenge you!

Federer: *Scoffs* "I have 15 grand slam championships. No way you'll beat me. Plus I have inspiration from Mirka. She has taught me great technique"

Kafelnikov, Goolagong, and Lundgren are all huge at the moment. Bartoli and Nalby are the 2 fattest active players

    #42
  43. True, and in the 80`s Chezh player Tomas Smid said the same thing something like "you have to play as much as you can, who knows what will happen if you get injured".
Maybe the players from poor countries with poor childhoods are the hungriest?

Connors in the modern era by far.

That said, I have to give credit to Muster after his injury. He was told he would never play tennis again, yet he was stoking balls in a wheelchair during his recovery. For those of you who remember him, he was a gruff no nonsense guy, but after he came back and won the tournement where the car had struck him before the final (Lipton now the Sony Ericsson) he actually had a tear in his eye.

Why does his Bio say he weighs 170? Sure it isn't all muscle but that also isn't a lot of weight for a guy his height. and dont give me that video i have seen it

Could be the Serena Williams scenario. Her bio used to lists her in 2007-2008 at 135lbs (a time she was particularly overweight), while Martina Hingis was listed at 130lbs

I saw with my own eyes when wta and usopen.org listed serena as 135.
Here is a thread showing others laughing back then at Serena's weight listing http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=136060

Here is Hingis's weight listing of 130lbs. http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/player/martina-hingis_2257889_3491

From Time Magazine back in 2007
