I think part of the overall issue is that many of "those" comments were made years ago. I only joined this forum a bit over a year ago and not once have I got the impression that Jolly represented himself to be a 5.0 or 5.0+ player. In fact, I've always read him talking DOWN about himself. When you add in other posts showing Jolly's humor as it is, well, obviously some of us can see why the literal translation of his earliest comments is more than likely off base. Therein lies issues with context. Anybody can pull quotes out of the Bible so to speak. However, to interpret those quotes you have to look at the entire Bible to correctly engage in the process of interpretation. So it is with Jolly (and any poster) and he's written quite a bit since the original posts were made.

Actually - he doesn't have any students at all. Kind of the point. The point that you seem to be missing is that he started this snowball rolling all by himself by coming in here and posting those comments and claiming all kinds of stuff that just wasn't true and then giving all kinds of advice to people.

This is a discussion forum - if you don't like people discussing things then don't visit.

Okay...I'm done now. This isn't my battle and I could really care less. I'll leave it to drak Topaz and the rest.

I got the point, I was being facetious. If you don't want tennis advice, don't visit tennis tips/instruction. Clearly not everyone here is a teaching pro, and that's totally fine. It doesn't mean we can't still spread the knowledge we do have.

Exactly. There are some ''High level" players who do use mids. Even some 5.0 players in the minority use them. But it's obvious they are at a disadvantage imo, especially if they are a baseliner. 3.5-5.0 players who are serious about their results are putting themselves at a disadvantage, maybe even a half a level lower by using these 'godly' sticks. One example is i took one set on a junior player 5.0+, 7-6 with a 100in racquet. The same player beat me 6-0 when i used a 85in. I firmly believe it was because of the racquet and my baseline power game with the 100in was gone with the 85. My baseline game went to the toilet but i continued to use and admitingly enjoyed the 85 but it did bring my level down lower. NoBadMojos thread ''5.0 game in the toliet with a mid'' is not BS. It is WRONG to believe ANY player can choose ANY racquet and play the best they can. It's just NOT true.

I'm not a regular poster but I do read TT a lot to help my tennis game. This is my big issue here too. The compulsive liar can say whatever he wants but when he goes and tries to lead others it truly is a danger.

Drakulie and Topaz and others who keeps the lies in check, I just want to say Thanks. It's much appreciated.

My gosh, don't you people sleep or have jobs??

    Oh wait...that's right...

    Ok, let's get to work!

Ironic isn't it, that in the Salem witch trials, the witches were...innocent. And those that burned them *thought* they were acting righteous on someone else's behalf, but they were wrong, wrong, wrong.

Absolutely, and he was given ample opportunity to do so.

And he didn't. He chose to not speak up and explain his words.

    DNS, excellent post.

BTW, off topic, do you think the idea of a national meet-up should be brought up again?

    **********

And again, people...this is a PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD. I have never ever posted Jolly's or anyone's name, and Mav knows that. I don't need to post anyone's name, Jolly's own posts speak for themself.

    Ironic, isn't it?

Yeah, Mav's posts (or Joel's or mtommer's) aren't doing Jolly any favors.

Again, aphex...lol. :) I think Drak is signing the papers as we speak!

This is another point that isn't brought up much. Like DNShade also said, peole are taking his advice thinking that they are talking to a high level player. It is dishonest, and it doesn't mean his advice isn't good, but why go through all of this and pretend?

Why not just be honest with himself and others??? I keep asking that question, but the Jolly Spin Agency never seems to be able to answer it.

I know what you mean. I just received my yearly entry from a tournament i entered and won easily (3.5) 4/5 years ago.

    Graded events have increased $10
Open has shot up $10 + new $5 sanction fee??? ceo bonus?

Just not worth it, the trophy isn't worth more $5. Spend half the day waiting around. expected to be ready to play by 8am, impossible with bus public transportation. Overpriced food. All to be playing sandbaggers in the graded events.

Virtually no chance of winning the open against 5.5's, pretty much need to be playing solid 4.5+ tennis to even make the 2nd round with a lucky draw. I was fine taking a tennis lesson from the local coaching pro (5.0) or itf ranked player (5.5+) when the open cost was $35-40. But at $55 forget it. what a rip off. Prize money of QF $75, SF $225, F $700, W $1500. 64-128 draw..

Tournament tennis is so expensive nowdays. Almost feel like organizing a club tournament for $5-10 player. Even if the level tops out at 4.5 it's still cheaper competition.

Funny you mentioned that. I have been thinking about just that recently and have actually been working on putting a few things together. I wanted to have some plans and options solidified before I brought it up. I want to make sure that the same thing doesn't happen this time as last. I'll let you and everyone know what I have soon and we can go from there.

For someone who is proud of integrity, this answer is not cutting it. If he ridiculed lower level players, go to the thread in which he did it and contradict him there. Also, no one appointed you champion of the lower level players. If you feel strongly about it (I think you don't - you just joined the lynching crowd for a few kicks), take it up in a proper manner, not by singling him in a thread in his absence.

I have not broken any rules of the forum.

If you have issues with what Jolly has posted on a public forum, maybe you need to bring it up in a proper manner. Attacking me just makes you look desperate. Put me on ignore if you have problems with what I'm saying.

No one appointed you anything, but you feel the need to come in and tell people what to do. Ahhh, the irony!

Btw, the only thing I am saying...is the truth. And backed up with...facts.

I have never lied or misrepresented myself, btw...can you say the same? Can Jolly?

    Sounds good!

I was thinking about this today...he should feel honored! Too bad he won't post and give us some answers.

No rules have been broken, so why delete the thread. And when they were, individual posts were deleted. Why do you have trouble understanding and accepting that?

You, of course, are welcome to post your opinion, as long as you abide by forum rules.

    And, so does everyone else.

And they continued to be made, either by him or others who got lost in the hype. Whenever J was questioned, he said he never stated he was a higher lever player. Since then, when the "infamous" thread was revived, he has been quiet about the whole matter.

    Sure he has. See below:

and again, if he in fact as you and other state was "kidding" or "joking around", he:

    1. Wouldn't continue with the comedy, and making claims (such as noted above).
    2. Would make it clear to everyone what he meant.
    3. Would correct other who misrepresent him.

He has had literally hundreds of opportunities, yet he chooses to not "set the record straight".

What a pathetic justification for piling on with the mob and bad-mouthing someone. Sure hope this is not what schoolkids are learning from you. It is not about you or me, it is about your lynching of someone in his absence. Looks like you know you are wrong and now trying to justify it by bringing diversions. I have nothing against what Jolly said or didn't say - the problem is your attacking him for no reason.

They dont wanna hear it. All they want is for the entire board to harass him off the boards. I tried to say it wasnt their job to be TW police and its really creepy what they did. They still insist its about his level and what he said but that is one huge lie. There is something more to their attacks but they refuse to admit it.
