thanks, good night, boys and girls
when's the haas/nishikori match supposed to start?
guess after Ana & Sloane.
Yep that's unfortunate, no TV coverage for the doubles match...
i sure hope the ttc still covers the haas match
Hope someone at the stadium ends up recording the full match and uploading it on Youtube...
Pfft that's really bad, so many great/famous players on one court and it's not broadcasted..
Watching the ESPN feed from the stadium and you can see they're getting the net set up for the doubles match... Wonder how long the feed stays up? I wanna watch this match!
Correction: This is the Tommy Haas - Kei Nishikori match... Still cool.
Huh that's interesting, since the actual match is currently at 5-4 in the 1st set based on live scores.
My bad, didn't realize they still had one last men's match: Haas vs. Nishikori.
Only photos and no stream blargh
Wish I would have
look how crowded that doubles match is, more people watching that than watching nishikori beat haas
gulbis/raonic vs federer/wawrinka ya know thats gotta be an AWESOME match to watch, so much firepower on both sides
i hope the tennis channel goes over to the other court where the dubs is going on if this gets boring
And this is why tennis can't draw decent ratings on tv... Not that the Nishikori-Haas match is bad but you've got a grand slam winner playing with a tennis HOF in doubles against some big servers which could provide some entertainment and they don't even bother to air it. You can clearly see the TV cameras are even covered up. SMH.
^^and all the commentators keep talking about is haas' shoulder pain that he's been having. nobody wants to watch an injured athlete on top of this bad tennis. however, this match is still better than any women's match.
I guess they didn't want to pay the camera crew overtime Or maybe it wasn't scheduled early enough for the crew to stay tonight if the decision was to be made at least a week in advance or something. Though how do doubles entry into these tournaments work? They don't seem to entirely go off rankings like most of these singles players have extremely low ranks but still make the cutoff?
Is there a stream for Fed doubles match?
I thought ESPN3 would have it, but they only have Haas-Nishi on both of their streams.
This is such bull!!!
ESPN.com doesn't even have scores for the doubles matches, only singles!
2 TBs in 1 hr 27 min. Big tennis!
The official site has live scores. The doubles match is over but the Match Stats are still there:
I use this site for scores; it has point-by-point stats too: http://www.scoreboard.com/tennis/
Fed and Stan in this form can go real far in doubles too. Its a shame They are in the Same singles quarter. I give Stan the upper hand if They meet.
Does anyone know why They play doubles? Is it Davis' cup related??
Fed played terrible tennis against Tursnov - slow movement, bad ball striking, only his serve was decent, especially the 2nd serve in the 2nd set, but his tennis needs to be way more consistent to pose a threat to even Wawrinka.
They made it to the finals at the IW doubles a few years ago so maybe this is just a fun doubles tournament for them?
Probably because the format is more relaxed. The top 32 seeds get a first round bye for singles (96 players in a 128-player grid). Singles is best of 3 rather than best of 5. The top players feel that they can go deep in doubles without threatening their chances in the singles draw.
Haas is doing well. Haas v Fed will be a good one. Remember, Haas beat Fed in 2012 in Halle, and all of their recent encounters were all close.
What a performance by Haas. Pretty amazing considering how bad he's looked lately.
I actually think Larry Ellison (tournament owner) pays the top guys extra to play doubles as an appearance fee or such. Or maybe he has a deal where they get extra money as commission for attendance. As we saw, Federer-Wawrinka doubles had more attendance than Nishi-Haas.
Remember when people thought Fed would not play Basel a few years ago? I think he negotiated with them an appearance fee and a deal where he would purchase the Basel tournament in a few years.
i'm pretty sure you're right. i mean raonic/gulbis playing federer/wawrinka is a dream doubles matchup...doesn't happen at the US open or any slams.
Is Federer's draw opening up for him to win this titleeeee?
Roger Federer's been playing a lot of tiebreaks lately.
Here in Finland Nieminen is the so underrated as a prof athlete that it's just ridiculous.
The journalists don't seem to have no idea whatsoever how hard/difficult it's to get to the top 20 in the world in professional tennis (13. in 2006). And to stay in top 50 a decade.
The Finnish flag looks so pretty.
Yes it is. GOAT flag
Was just watching and was thinking the same, Jarkko still in amazing shape, how old is he now?
32. The age difference between him and Fed is just 2 weeks. And yes, he is in veryyy a good shape indeed. His daily training session is just sick.
Yep looks like he's always been around for the last 15 years or so, amazing.
Bautista Agut should still win this one I think though...
Nah, Nieminen 6-4;-). Jarkko has a mental edge.
Nieminen serving 4-5
Yeah, I was wrong with my prediction. So, lets give another one, lol. Nieminen wins TB 7-4
Great level of play in that TB !! 4-2 for B-A
What's wrong with live streams tonight?
livescorehunter not working correctly
what a way to win
8-6 and win by B-A wow that was close and what a passing shot on that match point ;-)
espn3 here legend, not sure if you can get that
Too bad. Well, good match all in all. Jarkko played very well but A-B was just marginally better. Gongrats!
