Thanks for the update - yes, the courts it will be...just not interested and if i watch, I'll just get upset at what competitive tennis they could be showing.

I was really looking forward to some tennis coverage as well until I saw what they will be showing. :x

Oh well, time to do anything else except watch ESPN.

Now that the Williams are back, ESPN is going to show Roddick, Agassi, Willams and Williams. If they don't make it to the semis or finals, some ESPN exec is going to be pulling out his hair while they reluctantly show the semis and finals.

This is one of those programming decisions which, while I'm not going to like, I'm not going to argue with.

They definitely should show Serena in her first match back. When they start showing her over and over... well, that's when we should start complaining. But for this tournament, excessive Williams coverage makes sense, for once.

I agree; she deserves to be in the spotlight after such an injury.

On another note, it is really refreshing to watch The Tennis Channel's coverage of tournaments albeit one day. They did put in a long day yesterday, and Barry Thomkins and Justin Gimelstob aren't bad commentators. Gimelstob doesn't mind saying "that ball was in (out)". He calls 'em like he sees 'em. He hasn't learned the deference for the umpires like PMac & Company have.

Yesterday during Roddick's match Gimelstob sounded like PMAC's clone... Remember his comment when Roddick hit 145mph? He was like 'WOW in those conditions it's unbelievable' when Roddick was obvioulsy serving with the wind in his back! I'm afraid we can't expect fair coverage of a Roddick match in this country.

During the Serena match, when Mary Joe Fernandez was commenting, she was talking with cliffy on how the average person can start tennis. They got on to how great the Miami tourney was, and Mary Joe chimes in with "All the big names are here, the Williams sisters, Capriati, Agassi (then some junk bout how many titles he has), and Roddick"

Coincidence that they are all american? Whose #1 in the world for the men again? Whose #4, higher than Agassi?

Give Gimelstop a little credit he knows and does give props to the foreign players as well like Davydenko and Zabaleta.

He is also actually legitimately funny unlike his ESPN counterparts.

TTC coverage includes the foreign players. Justin and Barry did a great job on a very long day. Contrast that with ESPN focusing on Andy, Agassi adn the Williams sisters. For those of you who have access to TTC I highly recommend it. It is a work in progress. As it picks up steam I think there will be more live coverage.
