I started tennis with a Wilson Hammer 5.3, the OS version of the racquet my 5.0 NTRP brother uses.

I am an athlete and play obsessively and am now at a low 4.5 NTRP. My racquet collection grew out of control. 30 racquets and a lot of, what is now, a lot of wasted money. My favorite players frames where the Prince "03 and EXO3 tours".

After tennis season I was inspired by the Volkl DNX 10 w, so I exteded it when my friend lent it to me. This racquet owned anything I had played with. I proceeded to experiment with Wilson Pro Staff 85 and other historical racquets.

A local tennis stringer recommended that I try the Prince CTS Lightning. I got two on the Bay and they were the smoothest racquets I had ever played with, until two weeks ago when I spotted a miss listed POG 1 stripe. I got it for $9 and $8 shipping. When I got the racquet the grip was to short so I extended it with some light weight fiberglass and sand paper ect....

I proceeded to put my recently acquired POG in my tennis bag along with my two prince CTS lightnings and hit with it for my first time last week in a friendly match, I have not put it down since then, except when my strings broke.

Now I have a house full of racquets that will probably never see the light of day and a taste for an old racquet that will never cost less than $70 a pop...

Well, at least my tennis game has never been better. :)

Congratulations. You, sir, are a 'racquetholic' and there is nothing wrong with that aside from spending $$$. Introduce yourself on Ross K's thread.

    You are right

In the past I had no inclination to rid myself of my excessive racquets. I have never felt the ball better than I have with the Prince 14 x 18 racquets.

I am also not psychic, so who knows what tomorrow brings?

Would love to hit with the POG 1 stripe one day. I hear the swingweight is much higher than the 4 stripe and newer reissue, and they feel a bit more solid with the foam filling.

I owned a Lightning 90 and regret selling it. A few weeks ago, I was on the auction site bidding on an early POG Mid and a CTS Lightning 90, both auctions finished within hours of each other, and both rackets were in mint condition. Needless to say, they both went for a fair bit of coin!

I know what you mean when you have that moment of revelation after playing with the POG and realise you can toss away everything else in your bag. The true desert island racket, if there ever was one!

Never have regrets. And you only live once, so what heck....yes you bought a lot of racquets, but so what.....they were the journey you had to take before you realised the POG was 'the one'.

And you may see another someday for a trade where someone wants something you have. As the well known saying goes "one man's pig is another man's POG"!
