It may not have been the prettiest match, but damn it was a beautiful victory!

Pretty amazing to think that no other male player has ever won a tournament NINE times, not even a 250, and Rafa's done it at a slam. Truly outstanding achievement.

Not even Gonzales and Rosewall in the pre-open era professional game won a major 9 times.

Think about how long ago he started winning. This man has put the miles in to get where he is today!! #KOC

Nadal is also the first man in world history to win slams for 10 years in a row.

Only Federer/Borg/Sampras come close, with 8.

Yeah! I never thought of that! I would love to have one copy with his autograph on it. The organizer can make money out of it.

That picture is a wee bit misleading. I've rewatched the video and it was a very very quick, momentary reaction he had when the Spanish anthem started playing but he pulled himself together and didn't break down but of course the photographers caught that one instant and the picture is all over the place now. Not that there's anything wrong with Rafa showing such raw emotion - it's very touching for his fans to see - but it doesn't really depict the trophy ceremony.

That was really be something but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The last three have been really tough to get so three more might be stretching it a bit. ;) If it were to happen, and if someone did make a calendar of it, I hope it would be Rafa's Foundation and then all the proceeds could be used to help the kids in his charities, not just put money in someone's pocket.

I really hope he does well at Wimby. He definitely has the motivation.

But he should rest for it

Going straight to Halle after winning RG is not the best idea IMHO

The thing is, is that the grass season is short, its Halle or play cold turkey at Wimby. He doesn’t need to give his all, just do enough to be comfortable on the surface.

It will be different next year when Queen's Club and Halle will both be upgraded to ATP 500 status, and both tournaments will be moved back a week, giving a week off after the French Open finishes. It's a good move, but it will feel strange that Queen's doesn't start immediately after the French Open finishes. I still haven't got used to the blue sponsor AEGON boards at Queen's Club, and long for the red sponsor Stella Artois boards of 2008 and before.

I agree mustard, the blue looks horrible imo and is way too overbearing.

You can see him tearing up when they started to play the Spanish national anthem.

Same here. It doesn't look like Queen's without the red. I think it fits with the tournament's general decay since the late 90's.

    Decay?

Queens has always been a C tournament, a warmup on grass before Wimbledon.

People need to understand that not all tournaments are equal.

To put it in perspective winning R32 at a grand slam makes more points than reaching a finals at Queens.

Yes, I understand that. But I'm allowed to think it has decayed since the days of Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg. Am I not?
