Does anyone keep track of how they do in tiebreakers? I'm 3-0 in tiebreakers this year. It can be set tiebreakers or match tiebreakers.

I actually get scared playing tiebreakers because you know that you are so close... it can go either way. But they kinda motivate me "come on you got this, you are so close!"

How do you fare in a tiebreaker?

6-2 this year, which is a huge improvement over past years in which a 3rd set tiebreak was as good as a loss for me.

I don't b/c I honestly don't play too many of them. My sister is amazing at 3rd set tiebreakers, in fact we looked back over her record and can't find where she has ever lost one, even back in high school when sometimes they would play a 3rd set tie break if a match was already decided.

I honestly have no idea...I could go back and look up my tennislink record, but there have been a whole lot more matches that aren't on there. Hmmm, I may keep track now, just to see. I suspect it isn't too good. :(

It just started to interest me because I would watch matches on TV that would go to a tiebreak and they would post their record on them.. so I was just wondering how everyone else fared when it came down to a tiebreak. Do you tighten up? Does it motivate you to push through and win because you're so close?

I feel like with me, even though I fare well in tiebreaks, I tighten up. Sure when you're up 40-love in a regular game and you double fault its no big deal.. but double faulting in a tiebreak IS a big deal (at least to me).. so I tend to get a little paranoid, maybe hit a safe first serve to give me two chances to at least get the ball in.

Ok, so far this year, I have not played any 3rd set tiebreakers (meaning the 10 pt 'champion's tiebreak'). That is because the only 'official' matches we've had have been mixed, which are best of three full sets.

Three times my partner and I went to a third set. And three times we either lost that 3rd set, or time ran out with us trailing. So, not good! :( (Though, in my defense, I was playing 7.0 mixed, and for all those matches, I had a 3.0 guy as my partner! The one time I got paired with a 3.5 guy, we won easily!)

I looked up my record from last year, and it was suprisingly better than I thought! 5-2 in thirdset tiebreaks.

But again, in actual 3rd sets...0-3!

This was out of a total of 38 matches.

Hmmm, I sense a pattern here....
