Well, to be fair, I rate Valencia quite highly, he has incredible amounts of pace and I think it's great for Central American football that players like Valencia, Suazo, Palacios and others are getting good time in at some big clubs. CONCACAF ain't so weak anymore. But replacing the goalscoring ability of Carlos Tevez and Christiano Ronaldo with Michael Owen?!?! Fergie must have something up his sleeve. United will sign Doug Costa (who is quality), and spend a few years in 3rd or 4th place, and then once the next crop of kids mature, than we'll start to see United become a true force again. They're going through a major rebuilding, with the last of the golden generation (Giggs, Scholes, Neville, etc...) finally hanging up their boots, coupled with Ronnie and Tevez leaving. But Fergie always seems to get through these things and come out on top, so I assume he'll figure something out and in three or four seasons we'll all be wondering why we questioned him in the first place. Should be interesting to watch.

It's the way it's going at the moment.

Real Madrid are getting the top players, Manchester City are linked with the second tier of players.. the rest of the teams are fighting it out for the scraps.

There is no doubt Man Utd are weaker now they have Owen and Valencia but let's face it, who else could they of realistically got? They wanted Ribery, Kaka and Benzema but we all know what happened there.

Sure, Valencia is a pretty good player but he's scored 7 goals in 2 seasons! Ronaldo, who he is replacing, scores that in a month :|

Hopefully Owen can find that form he had with Liverpool a few years back...

Newcastle was pretty bad for him.

One of the most used phrases in football.

Anyway, Valencia is top quality. Yeah he only got a few goals for us, but he did so much more to help us stay up.

With players like Rooney, Berbatov etc around him, he'll more than likely do even better. I've watched him week in week out when he was with us.

Well, dude - it's Newcastle. Come on now, who, besides Shearer, was even decent at Newcastle? It's a graveyard, man. Look at what happened to Alan Smith!

See what happens when you constantly bad mouth Madrid? God Florentino smacks you down. We probably wouldn't even have gone after Benzema, but because ManU wanted him we got him sooner than expected. Fergie better shut his trap next time or we'll take Vidic AND Evra just because we can.

Come on Morrissey, you're not an idiot. You know i've never "bad mouthed" Madrid!

In fact i've been very complimentary about what they're doing and am excited about it.

I've layed into Barcelona no end, Madrid? Erm, no.

If anything, United should try to sign a few more strikers and a midfielder. I say they should buy Luis Fabiano and Edin Dzeko, maybe someone like Danelie Di Rossi and throw the rest back into the bank or use it to pay off some of the debt. What do you guys think?

What about some other clubs in other leagues? Ok, like this. You're Fergie/Guardiola/Mourinho and your bosses want you to sign a few more players to build on the success of last season. Who do you sign, and who do you let move on?

I'd be looking to snap up either of the Sporting CP midfielders, Joao Moutinho and Miguel Veloso, and Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko.

Thiago Neves would be another one to pursue but I have no idea what caused him to fail in Germany after less than six months and join an Arab club, so perhaps he'd be a lost cause.

Other players I'd be after would be Andre-Pierre Gignac and Marouane Chamakh (Wenger's interested in him apparently).

I see we're in agreement with Dzeko, the kid can flat out play. I think he'd work quite well with Rooney up front or alongside Berbs. I'm not sold on Moutinho, I haven't seen all that much of him, but he never really stood out for me. But if Wenger says that he's quality, then who the hell am I to question him? Veloso is a real gem though, he has the talent, that's for sure. Pace, tactical awareness, and a wicked shot. Works for me.

I've heard of Gignac and Chamakh but I don't watch much of Ligue1 outside of the bigger teams (Lyon, Marsailles, PSG and whoever plays in the CL). I know Gignac is only 22 or 23 and was the leading scorer for the league this season so maybe it seems like he's ready to step it up a notch. Chamakh I haven't seen or really heard anything about but, again, if Wenger sees something in him then he must have something special.

If I was Fergie, I'd also seriously look into signing Taye Taiwo from (I think) Marsailles, who I have seen a play a couple times and I like his game.

What makes me apprehensive about Gignac is that he hadn't been all that prolific until this season, then again, Ronaldo only scored five or six in 2005-06, so I guess stranger things have happened than a striker finding form.

Who would I like, Nick? Well if we presume only Deco and Carvalho are leaving then I think i'd like Pato, Zhirkov, Sturridge and one more winger.. not quite sure who though.

I have a feeling Ancelotti will let Joe Cole play in the middle (his favoured position) as he is quite creative and that's what we need. Lampard, Essien and Joe in the middle looks pretty good to me.

That would leave Zhirkov and Malouda as the only real wingers, so a right sided one would need to be brought in too.

First team players who could leave like Bosingwa and A. Cole could be replaced by Maicon and Zhirkov playing left back, that would then call for 2 new wingers. Maybe Sessegnon, Adam Johnson has been talked about, as has Ashley Young.

Cole, Essien, and Lampard would do the trick. But Bosingwa, IMO, is a more important part of the club than people realize. He's that quick right back who can track down fast fowards, and can act as a sweeper on some occasions. Chelsea need to do all they can to keep Bosingwa.

Totally agree, i'm a huge Bosingwa fan. Going forward he is right up there with Maicon and Alves, and the defensive job he did against Messi in the Champions League semi was textbook defending.

So he provides alot going forward and is more than capable in defence, to think we brought him for £16 Million and Bayern think they can get him for £12 Million after the season he's just had is absurb. Especially as Bayern are demanding ridiculous money for Ribery, hypocrites much?

Yup! I had him too. Lots of points for his defence and some bonus ones for the goals and assists he came up with. Hopefully he'll stay and we can have him again next year!

I'd imagine that, being a world class manager, despite attending a game of tennis (where Federer reclaimed the #1 ranking from your boy), he has something in mind.

I don't see you praising Pellegrini for anything yet.

Why? He hasn't started with Madrid yet? Fergie's at Wimby because he hasn't gotten anyone good yet. So instead of killing time he might as well attend a nice Wimby match. You had to throw in a Nadal diss in a football thread. Shame on you and just enjoy the Ronaldo celebration, I mean presentation in the most prestigious stadium on the planet. Santiago Bernabeu.

BTW, we're taking Vidic away from you too.....just to **** you off. :-D

    There you go. Fixed.

And why not ask Arsene to sign Oguchi Onyewu? He has no work permit issues, speaks English (he is a countryman of mine), is awesome in the air, is huge, and kicked ass at Standard Liege for 5 seasons. Oh wait....AC Milan just signed him. HAHA! Sorry 'bout that I'm just nuts that an American is going to play for AC Milan. That's sick!

But yeah, Arsenal should sign Joao Mutinho and Danelie De Rossi. That should patch things up a good deal.

Wow, I really like the new PSG jersey. And I don't even cheer for them.

And the new Bordeaux jerseys are the best I've seen them have like....ever. They look better without the Kia logo in the middle. Here's hoping they look for a cooler looking sponsor.

The new Lyon jerseys come out in 4 days. I hope they keep the Novotel sponsor and stay with their streak of great designs. Ligue 1 have some of the best looking uniforms.

    That's a nice shirt!

I liked the Real Madrid home from last year, I'm not sold on this year's shirt, Adidas' stuff doesn't look all that great this season - have you seen the new Chelsea shirt? It looks like something Lance Armstrong would wear! I'm also really liking Arsenal's 3rd/European Away shirt, one of the best shirts I've seen in ages. My favorite of this upcoming season is Inter's away shirt, which is damned cool, Inter always have great shirts (last year's away with the red cross is SICK). I'm not into Valencia's new home shirt, Kappa doesn't make good stuff IMO and their 06/07 home was one of my favorite shirts in a long while.

I love the new Madrid jersey, especially because I hate collars. I love the gold piping on the side with the black adidas stripes. It also has a commerative Santiago Bernabeu badge on the right chest which is a nice touch. As for the Chelsea, I'm not crazy about them, but at least they got rid of the collars. The new Munich is better than the Chelsea.

As for the Liverpool black away jersey is absolutely gorgeous.

This shirt has SECOND place in La Liga written all over it. :)
