Not too bad! We could afford to drop points in one of the Liverpool or Tottenham games, it would of been nice to of kept that cushion going into the Liverpool game, but it might be good to go into that game knowing we really need to win.

We actually played pretty well, even with 10 players we looked quite dangerous going forward. It was just a bit unfortunate the luck we got with Drogba's handball against Bolton was evened out with that strange decision in the first half today.

    Spurs clearly the better team.

When Dowd failed to give the penalty for the lunge on Bale I was convinced the fix was going to be on. I think even Dowd realised what a disgraceful non-call that was and gave the penalty moments later.

Gareth Bale - best left-sided footballer in England. What a player.

Thanks for giving the Yids 4th. After Chelsea bottling it at Spurs, it seems United are going to win their 4th title in a row, sigh.

Nah, for the first hour both teams had plenty of chances. Malouda scored a marginal offside goal, he also had a great long range effort saved. Lampard had a volley saved by Gomes, we created quite a bit.

It was only when we were down to 10 men and committing everyone forward that the floodgates could of opened.

Mikel clearly got the ball :)

Even the commentator David Pleat, aka Spurs #1 fanboy, had to give Mikel credit for that challenge.

Gareth Bale best left sided footballer in England? lol. He's had two good games. I remember he went something like 24 games in a row without being on the winning side for Spurs, he was a laughing stock. No doubt he's improving but he's nowhere near in the same class as left sided players like Malouda, Zhirkov, Cole and Evra, i'd even put Duff above him, not to mention Johnson who's only been at City since January but has already taken the league by storm.

    Fena,

As well as myself, Bjorn, other TT members, all the commentators/ex-players I've heard, etc, I've just been listening to the phone ins and I promise you they've been awash with CFC fans bemoaning Ancelotti's substitutions, tactics and wanting to play diamond shapes, the destruction of Joe Cole's game, the use of clearly not up to it players like Deco and Ballack ... and... praising the Spurs performance.

Come on Fena, how about giving just a tiny bit of credit where credit is due?:)

Ancelotti was defiant after the defeat and told ESPN: "The title is still in our hands, we don't have to be afraid, we just have to look to the next game against Stoke.

"I don't think the players were nervous, we knew how important this game was. We didn't do so good but Tottenham played very well, at the same level as they did against Arsenal.

"We were a little bit down, but this is football."

Of course! Spurs were very good indeed and deserved to win. I don't think we were as bad as people are saying though.

I don't blame Ancelotti for it at all, his original team selection was the right one and he had no alternative but to bring Ballack on when Mikel got injured. I also liked the Ivanovic substitution as Ferreira had a poor first half and Ivanovic in his first game back from injury was very good as usual. The only one that was a bit questionable was Anelka on for Joe Cole, but when you're 2 down and need goals, you can't really blame him for bringing on another striker.

What are Chelsea fans hoping for when they say Deco and Ballack aren't up to it? Mikel was injured and Essien has been out since December so there was nobody else, Ancelotti did what he could with what he had.

You could see how Ancelotti was getting annoyed on the touchline, he sent the players out there to do the job but nothing really went right for us, it was just one of those days and I don't blame him for that.

Three (!) last second goals against the scum this year, surely this is the first time in history such embarassment has happened. SWP since Hughes left has been a huge liability and for some reason decided that a 5 yard pass was too much of a hassle and only attempted insane 30 yard solo runs past Evra or shot from 35 yards out which he's never scored from in his career. I along with everyone else were holding our collective heads in our hands as he lost it yet again at 92:15, setting up the inevitable .

The race for 4th is still open since Spuds still have to come to Eastlands and we have Villa at Eastlands as well. It'll surely come down the Spuds/City match in a few weeks to decide it.

I don't think Chelsea will lose or draw any of their remaining fixtures as only Liverpool are capable and since they'll likely be out of the 4th race by then they will lack motivation compared to a fired up Chelsea side.

I'm looking forward for City to complete the double over the Arse next week, Ad****or brace to seal it.

    NO.

Malouda, A. Cole, Evra, Nani, Giggs, A. Johnson, Bellamy, Arshavin, Duff, Pienaar, Robinho, maybe a few others I'm forgetting are all at least as good as Bale and most are definitely better.

He's in the best form right now but we'll see how he follows this up in the last few games that will have the most pressure as well as continuing into next year.

    Naturalized italian, of Ghanian descent.

Couldn't quite understand why Zlatan was taken off and Abidal was brought on instead when they were trailing.

Just thought Zlatan could have been swapped with Henry or Bojan they would be more dangerous than Maxwell pushing up.

Zlatan wasn't fully fit. Barca were robbed, offside goal from Milito and denyed a stone wall pen. Mourinho gets lucky again in Europe but I still think Barca will do them at the Camp Nou.

He's just overrated. A fine player, and a much more diverse option than Eto'o, but not a better one. I think Barcelona picked him up because of his size, basically as someone to protect Messi, Xavi and the rest of Barcelona's offense who are under 5'7.

    Attack, not offence.

Meanwhile, good on the All England Club for deciding not to show any of the World Cup while the Championships are on. Means it's made up my decision for me, I'll go to Queen's instead.

Ribery sent off for a tackle almost as ugly as he is.

Serves him right for the last round.

Milner at Man U next season?...

Just like with some other notable great Brit players over the years (inc. Robson, Keene, Ferdinand, Rooney), I just have a feeling a big money transfer could well be on the cards.

Anyone else got any thoughts on players possibly making a move, big-money summer signings?

I think Milner is a possibility for Man Utd, yeah. The only problem is that Man City also seem to be interested and they would be willing to pay pretty much anything, i'm not sure if Man Utd will be able to match it.

Ribery looks like he will go to Real Madrid (if he isn't in jail), whilst Aguero looks likely to go to Chelsea. He's come out in the press a couple of times since January and that looks like the move he wants, it's just a question of whether he will back down on his demand of £200,000 a week or not.

this is sports-you win in the field by your perfomance.

Is there actual chance for that???D: I thought that he and the others would somehow manage with their money and connections get easily out of this.
