After that running bh dtl ripper from Bartoli, I have to think she might be the first to beat Aza this year.

3-3 Cake has Aza 0-30 on serve and pumping her fist. She feels it. Now 0-40. 3bp. Breaks serve with 2 fist forehand cross court. Aza is slumping over on court. Covering her face with her towel in her chair and punching herself. Hitting herself with racquet. Aza is mad with herself, crying, banging her racquet on the ground and gritting her teeth for this. Howls have also stopped. Is Aza injured?

Cake 5-3 Aza serving to stay in match.

A slimmed down Bartoli would be a real threat to any player on tour. She has amazing resolve.

read somewhere apparently Bartoli and her dad thinks it is better for her to be slightly overweight to gain more heft in her shot, or something to that effect.

mp for Cake. At least she's saved Aggie from yet another Aza drubbing

gsm Cake. 6-3 6-3. Ok, I like Cake but Aza really tanked the last five games this set.

Vika looked totally exhausted, mentally tired etc. anyways kind of expected.

For a player who won her first major and to go on as she did is really exceptional on the WTA tour so I'm really happy that she was able to give the tour credibility and will keep giving the tour it's credibility contrary to many other top players out there.

The field on clay in the women's game is totally lackluster -- Vika is in the solid top 3 to win RG.

That'd be even more exceptional if she ended the season with 2 majors in the year where she won her first.

I wonder when was the last time for that in women's tennis since as soon as a girl wins her first slam she goes kinds of AWOL.

Considering their respective forms, it could have been the other way around this time. Just for that reason I was hoping they'll meet again
If Cibulkova didn't choke, Azarenka should have been out few days ago

Ah yes, thanks, that's a good while now -- lol 6 years. We'll see if Victoria can break that. Her chances on clay are pretty good. She's pretty strong/stable mentally after what she did this season, the pressure, expectations, #1 etc., we'll see.

I agree that she could lose a few pounds and do a little better. But, I don't think weight is really her big issue, even if she does appear pudgy. She moves pretty well and takes the ball early. She was once in worse shape. Her stamina is good and she's never going to be Sam Stosur-ripped.

As is, she's a threat to anyone on a given day, and she's beaten nearly everyone at one time or another. IMO, her limitation is her game more than her fitness. She's naturally very aggressive and hot or cold. Sometimes she doesn't seem able to grind it out when she's "off." That's what keeps her from winning the biggest tournaments, though she's come close.

I have a sneaky suspicion Woz is going to win this event. Maria is an UFE machine. Woz owns Radwanska and will be anxious for revenge. And Bartoli is owned 6-0 by Radwanska and can't keep up with Woz's pushing even if she somehow sneaks past A-Rad.

So did Venus owned Aga prior to their last match

Aga should worry more about Bartoli, in this tournament so far all "jinxes" have been broken

Not surprise a fanatic like you making excuse for your favorite players.

Of course i don't expect you to listen to me or anyone who believe Caro outlcassed Serena. My post isn't just for you, but to let all the members know how much of an excuse maker you are.

Maria goes from 4-1 and CRUISING to serving too stay in the match, Wozniacki is doing NOTHING, Maria self destructing.

Edit, Wozniacki takes the first sert 6/4, that was 1000% all on Maria!

how on earth did sharapova lose that set lol
she was pummeling woz around at will just like she is now in the 2nd. i switched off at 4-1 and woz should never have even gotten that one game oO
was that a mental breakdown or something?

this is a great match. 3rd set just started. Sharapova was getting mad at Kader Nouni for not knowing if Woz was taking a changing break or bathroom break after the 2nd set.

I just turned it on in the beginning of the 3rd set. Looks like Maria became an UFE machine in the 1st set, just like I said, but I'm glad she righted it in the 2nd. Come on, MARIA!!!!! Win this 3rd set!

Now that Aza's gone, Maria could win this whole tourney. She owns Radwanska.

Woz holds for 2-1 in the 3rd, saving some 3 break points. That's why I've nicknamed her La Cucaracha. She can even survive a nuclear barrage of Maria's groundies with her pushing.

Woz's back is up against the wall as Maria's serving for the match 5-2, and she hits 2 BH winners and another amazing ROS to force an error from Maria. Now she hits another great FOREHAND ROS to break Maria for 3-5.

So she CAN play aggressive; she just chooses not to?

Sharapova serves for the match again at 5-4. Woz played two very aggressive games from 2-5 down to get to 4-5.

Wow what a great 3rd set! Too bad I only started watching then.

Woz is pissed off that Kader Nouni overruled the double fault from Maria on the match point and doesn't shake Kader Nouni's hand. Nouni was right this time though.

Sharapova wins 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Amazing victory for Maria! She might finally win Miami now.

funny thing is.. 5-2 down in the 3rd back to the wall

and all of a sudden she starts to play tennis. serves well, goes for winners, hits through sharapova from the baseline.

    why not start earlier lol

Classy Caroline didn't even shake the umpires hand, all because she used up her challenges and Nouni (correctly), overruled an out call on Sharapova's 2nd serve on match point.

Little miss sunshine looked thunderous backing her bags!

She sure is in a good position, although she "owns" Bartoli, I think Bartoli is more dangerous than Maria (who happen to be very mental)

WELL maybe they are as delusional as you. in a forum filled with williams haters impressing them isn't hard....
facts are facts....the williamses have 20 slams, wozzy and aggie will retire with 0. wozzy did a great job of outclassing serena at the us open.

Bartoli took a real long MTO, now she;s serving to stay in 1st set at 4-5 0-30. She's got her left thigh strapped up, seems to be limping little.

3 sp Aggie. First set Aggie 6-4. Out comes the trainer again for Bartoli. She's in trouble.

Radwanska is on a mission this year. Now if she can just beat Azarenka and/or make a slam semifinal....

Speaking of Vika, she's planning to take up to 5 weeks off. At least she's not retiring...

That was a crazy rally by both ladies. Bartoli saved a BP closing it off at the net?!?! Radwanska then slipped in a sneaky BH slice that forced the error. Aga up a break 3-1.

Radwanska really needs to put something on that 2nd serve. It's just asking to get blasted. Bartoli breaks back. On serve 3-2 Aga.

She seems to have stepped it up a gear and seems ready to go to the next level. But, despite loving the variety and calm demeanor, I won't be totally sold on Radwanska until she makes at least Slam SF and beats top players on the way. There seems to be a DL love affair with her over the past year, whic I understand because she offers something so different than the majority of the WTA. But, I still think she's not there yet. Miami is a good start, but I want to see her excel at a Slam.

Radwanska just sliced her way to that point. Bartoli hits hard, but gets almost no angles.

Sharapova vs Radwanska in the final. Gen Stuck vs Gen Suck. No love lost between them. Should be a catfight. LOL

Radwanska hit more winners than Bartoli? 22-20.

Radwanska has her best chance in years to defeat Sharapova on Saturday. Sharapova also has her fourth (and best) shot to win Miami on Saturday. The WTA has been great in this tournament and I hope to see a final that delivers as well.

    May the best woman win!

no, she needs to get smarter with mixing her 1 and 2nd serves, not afraid to try 1st serve on 2nd attempt, not anyone would be poaching her 2nd serve then
