Thermoguard Bag

i know you should not leave your racquets in the car because of the heat and should keep them in a bag with thermoguard which i assume is some type of insulation. i only find wilson advertizes a bag with thermoguard. does anyone know of other bags that have insulation for the racquets?

Fischer, Dunlop, Head, Babolat, and Yonex also make thermo protected bags. There are plenty of options to choose from if it is important you. Personally, I don't think that thermal protection has much effect on the frames at all.

Yes. While it isn't a good idea to leave a racquet in 100 degree summer heat for extended periods of time (days at a time), it's just fine to leave it for a few hours. Today's racquets aren't made of natural material (wood), and therefore wouldn't be as susceptible to heat damage as racquets of the past. Graphite, fiberglass, and Kevlar shouldn't show significant damage due to limited exposure to summer heat.

Leave a hand made guitar in a hot, humid car and they it may pay the price. Thankfully for tennis players, our equipment isn't as fragile as a musician's tools.

That said, it's always a good idea to treat your equipment as best you can.

^^^Did you know that inside of a Car, in the summer, it can get as hot as 140-160 degrees...??? can Thermoguard protect against that kind of heat ???

What I'm saying is that thermoguard or not, a graphite (synthetic) racquet can handle the temperatures inside a hot car in the summer for a few hours without sustaining damage. A natural material: no. Synthetic materials: yes.

Again, don't mistreat your gear by leaving it in a hot car for the duration of the summer. Just keep in mind that today's frames are made of graphite, etc, not wood.

What I'm saying is that there's no need to freak out if you need to leave your racquet in the car for a few hours while you work or run errands during the summer. I wouldn't say the same about my custom jazz archtop guitars.

So far I only had to leave the bag in the car for just a couple hours, but the racquets were in the thermoguard compartment with the covers on, and I placed a frozen bottle of water (that was put in a ziplock, for added protection), and was placed in the thermoguard side with the racquets, so I'm sure that the racquets kept their cool. All seemed fine and my racquets have all gut set up.I'm sure they get warmer sitting on the bench in the bag while I am on the court, so the water bottle works well for that as well.
But, I just had to send my wilson bag to wilson, as the inside fabric on the moistureguard side tore on the inside seam, and I never even used that side as yet. I do hope that they make good for it as it was less than 2 months old.

^^^It is not the Graphite i am worried about. In today's rackets, there are materials inside the core like glue, Rubber, molding and so on and they can MELT in the super heat.

OK that Did it.... i am definitely going to buy the BEST THERMOGUARD BAG IN THE MARKET TODAY. IT IS THE BABOLAT THERMOGUARD BAG, AEROPRO SERIES,, 6 RACKET ONE. I DON'T NEED THE 12 RACKET ONE.

Keep in mind that things like Thermoguard are only slowing down the process of heat transfer. Leave a bag inside your car long enough, and the thermo compartment will eventually stabilize with the ambient temp. And don't forget things like the metal zipper, which acts as a conductor to speed up heat transfer. Like jim e said, putting some ice/other cold things inside the compartment will use up heat energy/ slow down the process, and is really the only way to keep your racquets at a lower temp for longer. However, leaving your bag in the car will eventually cook your stuff - just a matter of how much time.

And, as far as I know, (and according to many people on this forum) Yonex bags are not thermoguarded.

I live in Southern California so we get plenty of hot days. While the passenger compartment of my car gets really hot while parked out in the sun at work all day, the trunk does not get hot. I leave a tournament bag in the trunk all the time, with extra shoes, clothes and back-up racquets. Never had a problem. I would never leave my gear in the passenger compartment.
