I may be in Paris sometime during the French Open 2013, and I would like to use the opportunity (I watched a live tennis event including top players just once in my life, and I was a kid, and it was an exhibition). Could you advise me how to do it without having to spend a small fortune? What I managed to glimpse is that the round 1 tickets sell for >200 € for Chatrier, and that is hell of lot. In general, I want to see Federer and Nadal at least from a good court position, but I wouldn't mind spending the entire day or two watching tennis :)

The general public sale will start on Wednesday 02.13 , around 7 -8 am (GMT+1)
    http://rolandgarros.fft-tickets.com/uk

    Prices here:
    http://rolandgarros.fft-tickets.com/sites/rolandgarros.fft-tickets.com/files/Tarifs-RG2013-GP-UK.pdf
Category 1 seats on Chatrier for a first round match are 90 euros...

From April til the end of the tournament you can buy and sell tickets at face value on the Viagogo exchange platform:
    http://rolandgarros.fft-tickets.com/uk/ticket-info/official-ticket-exchange

I bought and sold loads of tickets through the exchange platform last year and the year before, it's totally secure, very practical ( you receive an e-ticket via e-mail) and I always managed to find the tickets I wanted ( even for the 2011 final )...

    Try your local tennis federation

    Hi,

Depending on your country - the National Federations get tickets for their players especially juniors to bring family. Not all these tickets get used since not everyone can afford to travel to Grand Slam events.

Usually, these tickets are available to Federation members, might want check there first before going the regular expensive routes.

FYI Cat 1 seats for just about ANY of the days are just about gone already - some single seats here and there.

Go ahead and visit the FFT site or the RG site and follow the link.......FFT members and locals already had their Pre-Sales - and see what's left - LOG ON EARLY as you will be fighting all non FFT folks globally and any premium seats that are left go within the first hour.

We are FFT members and I bought 4 tkts for each day for each venue - and we buy the Box seats in blocks - if any are not needed I post in VIAGOGO and they sell within minutes - I then get my refund from the FFT about 2 weeks after the event - works great.

If you don't like what you see in a few weeks the VIAGOGO site opens up - again you will create a password and log in account - all the unwanted seats and extra seats are posted there for resale.

Also note that ALL SEATS that are resold on VIAGOGO are FACE VALUE.....your not getting ripped off or paying any scalper fees (cannot scalp RG tkts anyway as each tkt will have a name and ID info printed on it).

VIAGOGO is a great way to find good seats - again all the prices are face value - there is a very very small service fee for VIAGOGO like 10€.

Never heard of that and both my son and daughter played RG Jrs? We were given grounds passes as the Jr events are played on the outside courts.

I have a questions for very knowledgeable people: is it possible to guess, who will play who in the quarterfinals, seedwise? This is my problem: you can only buy tickets for Lenglen OR Chatrier for 1/4s, right? So, what could happen is that I end up watching Murray while Fed plays at the same time on the other court. While I appreciate Murray, and all others, I want to watch Fed live, because I don't know will I have another chance given his age.

So, all in all, who will be the 2nd and 3rd seed by RG, is it possible to assume right now,
    and,
do the seeds 1 and 3 ALWAYS play the same day?

    Thanks

I finally found out my schedule. I will be able to attend RG on Mai 31st, June 1st and June 2nd (yey! :)).

Is it possible to figure out what stage of the men's draw should be played on those dates? I see that the prices are very high in June 1-2 (saturday and sunday): 118€ for Chatrier. Why is that?

4th round - some of the best matches and the weekend. You have tennis from 11am until almost 10pm.

Based on what I can see on the RG 2012 schedule, it should be the 3rd round, and the 4th round matches start on Sunday? Could you help me clarify this?

    Last year, players played:

    Friday, 3rd round
Tsonga (5), Federer (3) on Chatrier
    Wawrinka (18 ), Djokovic (1) on Lenglen
    Berdych (7), Del Potro (9) on 1

    Saturday, 3rd round
    Nadal (2), Tipsarević (8 ) on Chatrier
Ferrer (6), Gasquet (17) on Lenglen
    Murray (4) on 1

    Sunday, 4th round
    Tsonga, Djokovic on Chatrier
Federer, Del Potro, Berdych on Lenglen
    Court 1 no men's singles

What I don't get is why are the tickets for Saturday and Sunday priced the same if on Saturday 3rd round is played, and on Sunday 4th?

You kinda answered your own question.....,look at the line up u posted. On back to back days u had the top French players plus a few of the most popular players ever....duh. After the 3rd round court 1 becomes an "outside" court and your grounds pass includes it.....mostly dubs and legends matches from that day fwd.

I guess you are right :) Say that I buy the tickets for Saturday and Sunday for Chatrier, and Fed ends up playing on Lenglen. Any chance of trading the day's ticket with a willing person inside the grounds? Or is there an ID check even when entering the stadiums, not just the main entrance to the complex?

Do you perhaps have experience how long can someone wait with viagogo, is it that difficult to find a ticket a week in advance?

Any chance......doubt it. Never heard of anyone swapping seats. Can u do it? Yes they only do the validation at the entry into the grounds.

I have sold seats on Viagogo until the very last min. It's open until the event starts - there is a Viagogo kiosk that allows tkt holders to resell their seats after the start of the event until the night before that is located at Gste B. You CANNOT buy same day seats - all the transactions and transfers must be done before midnight of that day.

If I understood correctly, you can buy tickets for 30/5 up until 29/5 00.00, but not on 30/5.

I quickly checked viagogo now, and found a ticket for Chatrier that sells for 142€, way above face value. I thought that is forbidden?

What day? Cat 1 for mid weekend is €118 - Viagogo does add a service fee to the price. End of week 2 prices are €150+ the service fee

Viagogo has a 10% service fee charge and a VAT charge on the tickets resold. Good idea if you review the full site - if you don't read French I believe they have a link for the UK site in English.

Wow, they charge VAT twice? But that shouldn't be the case, VAT was payed on 1st purchase, those are EU rules. This means the prices are not nearly the same as the normal ones. But that doesn't fit everywhere, it seems that outside courts are the same.

I found out what it is, it is not VAT, but they charge +25% on the price for show courts. Hefty.

Can I ask one last thing? I found this page
    http://cdn.fft.fr/index_VisiteVirtuelle.html

Nice to see the view from each seat. Is it possible to see the seat on the ticket sold on viagogo? I cannot find that info anywhere, just the sector and row.
