Hi Andy! I was just wondering if you modified your RDIS100 or RDX500? Or do you play it in stock form? :)

I was using them in stock form. The ones that I had were right in line with my "ideal specs". About 12.2 oz strung, 6-7 points HL with a swingweight around 325.

    Hi Andy,

I believe I read somewhere where you switched to the Blade 98? What made you switch and did you modify it any?

    Thanks!

I did just recently switch to the Blade 98 18x20. As much as I love my Yonex mids, I felt I needed a little bit more forgiveness and power out of my racquet in order to keep up with the younger players and more modern game. I like the Blade because I think it's a good blend of the attributes that you get in a more modern-style racquet (think Babolat), like good pop, crisp feel, great forgiveness, but it still has great traditional touch and feel that is really important to me in a racquet. I was very close to switching the Babolat AeroPro Drive, but I just felt that it didn't give me the touch, feel and control that I needed out of my racquet.

I made some very slight modifications to the Blade, but I really like them in stock form. I played around with some tungsten putty in the handle in order to make the racquet a little more head light, but I ended up just adding some lead to the throat area. My final specs are 11.76 oz strung, 4 points HL and a swingweight of 327. It feels awesome!

I do have to give Paul Reed, our Racquet Customization Manager here at Tennis Warehouse, a big thanks for doing my racquet customizing. He did a fantastic job...the racquet feels great and it looks super clean! You would be hard pressed to find anyone in the business that does racquet customization as well and cares about it as much as he does. Awesome job Paul!
