It looks like tape to cover what's on the buttcap. I suspect his got a non-Dunlop buttcap and is trying to hide it.

At first I thought it might be lead tape. Because I've seen this kid at all the national level tournaments with something similar.

    I am puzzled.

berdych uses a head grip so it's likely that he's covering up the head logo on the butt cap

custom version of the dunlop revelation pro with a head grip. blake and haas also use very similar frames. the closest thing that you'll get to what they're actually using is the tecnifibre 320/335 which is the same mold (i believe tecnifibre bought that mold from dunlop)

That right? I always thought the Tecnifibre's were just based on the old Major mold's  Oh well.. suppose you learn something new everyday! :)

There is one problem with this theory. The logo on the black head butt cap for the pro's is just sticker and very easily removed.

Also Check out Thomas Muster he does the same thing and he is currently under contact with HEAD again.

Maybe they're racquet techs are adding lead tape to the base of the butt cap and covering it up with some white finishing tape ?

Thomas Martinez, who strung many pros' racquets, said that it's just regular white athletic tape that was put in a cross-shape. But, he didn't say why Berdych put it there.

well virtually all butt caps are very easy to remove so if he or someone at dunlop really wanted to, they could've easily removed them. the only thing is that since head has somewhat of a unique grip shape, even if they take head logo off, they still wouldn't be able to put the dunlop cap on so it leaves them with either putting tape over the head logo or just not having a logo.

I am sorry I don't know what point you are trying to make. What I tried to explain is I don't think the white athletic tape is there to hide the HEAD logo because it is a sticker and they will just remove it.
Thomas Muster uses white athletic tape on his HEAD racquet's butt-caps and has nothing to do with hiding the logo.

Tommy Haas uses Dunlop racquets with the Head pallet and Head butt-cap and just removes the Head logo sticker.

I dont think its the logo. At first I thought it was to cover lead tape or keep the butt-cap on tighter.

I'm still puzzled. I think it might be because he's changing his racquet weight for different surfaces. That's just my two cents.

    Hi everyone

I read article about Muster's racquet. It might have been a USRSA magazine though I'm not 100% sure. The stringer commented both on the incredible weight (14 some odd ounces) and the fact that the butt cap of the handle had been built up with tape and he said it resembled a then butt end of a hockey stick. I have no idea why Muster uses so much white tape at the top end of the handle though. It does look cool if nothing else.

I asked Thomas this question several years ago and he does this because of the amount of torque he puts on the end of his racquet. If the grip were removed, you would also see the athletic tape strips actually go up 4 inches up the handle (helps secure the butt-cap). He then takes a his grip and wraps it two to three times at the butt cap to form a knob, which is why you also see tape at the top of the handle because the grip ends up being shorter now.

There are other pictures from the same set and different match and show Berdych's but cap has a dunlop logo.

Notice how the top 2 racquets Tomas' have a different throat compared to the stock AG200 below. He is using a PJ.

The throat of Tomas' racquet picture is very similar to the pic below of the Tecnifibre. The stock AG200 doesn't have grooves (it's flat) where the two beams meet the face of racquet at 5 and 7 o'clocks.

Leading to the assertion that he's using the same mold as James Blake and others.

I wouldn't make a big deal of the pro's butt caps. I've got a few Head frames off their pro line and they have plain black butt caps with a (very cheap) Head logo sticker. I think it's because the frames come bare from the factory and grip pallets are added (along with butt caps) by a racquet tech. If you notice in the photo above, most all of them have plain black butt caps--seems to be the standard issue...

The plain black butt cap with a HEAD Logo sticker is what HEAD used to use on the consumer racquets for decades. Over the years HEAD has had various designs on the Sticker for the butt cap .

Here is what the sticker on the HEAD butt cap looked like in 1982.

I have played with Berdych's racket. It is a soft and flexy racket. Kind of like the PT630 but softer. Weight: around 355 unstrung. Balance: almost even, little headlight. Head shape: a little bit more like a HEAD than an Aerogel. Length: Could be a little bit longer.
I play future tournaments and one guys I met had Berdych's racket that is why I have tried it and seen the sticker on the racket with the weight, balance and more. And ofcourse it says on the frame NO AEROGEL.

Why would Dunlop paint a racquet to look like an Aerogel and then print "NO AEROGEL" on the frame? Doesn't make sense, does it? Why would they pay Berdych money to use an Aerogel frame and then print "NO AEROGEL" on it????

The butt caps don't suck! The butt caps on all companies racquet come loose because they use staples into the pallet. The staples come loose, it's not a faulty butt cap!

I played with the racket in june so I don't remember exactly but I think the sticker said around 355 grams, almost even balanced, 27" or 27,25" but not longer and the head shape is not the same as the aerogels its more HEAD-like. That is all I know.

You revived a dead thread that's almost a year old just to ask that? Read the damn thread, you twit. A person here has hit with his frame, and says it's a custom frame. There are pictures confirming his claims. You're just too stupid to see that.

If you want to use the same mold as those guys or the old 320, you're holding it with your AG 4D 300 Tour.
