This is his last chance to repeat RG title, so, i believe in Gaudio...he can do it again!!!!

if he can handle these two girls...he can with roger and rafa too...

I would say no chance in he%l of Robredo actually winning the event. He is a good player but has neither the firepower or nerve to win such an important event, not in a million years. So could he still be in the top 10? Well only if you either feel he actually could win an event like this(
although if somebody would explain to me what they see in his game that could allow him any hope of doing this please explain)or that there are not 10 or more guys with a chance to win the event this year.

It's a joke what I said there about Roddick. I think Nadal is going to win it again.

I believe Nadal has a good chance of defending his title provided he is healthy.

Nevertheless, I am rooting for Roger and for Guillermo. Maybe Roger can complete his career grand slam, and maybe Guillermo can shake off that 04 nightmare.

Federer should be the favorite coming into this slam regardless of the fact Nadal won it last year. Federer has won the last three slams! Therefore Federer is the man to beat...not Nadal.

Why do posters think that Nadal has reached a level of excellence where he can win RG at a whim IMHO i think that some of us are placing a 19 year old on a pedestal that he can only fall from. Lets not forget that Sampras also won a slam at 19 and it took him two years to reach another final.

I do however accept that Nadal was the model of consistency last year but i think its far too early to suggest that he can maintain the superhuman feat in 2006. IMHO Federer is the red hot favourite wherever he turns up to play and I would place him as the 1st favourite for RG, followed by Gaudio, and then perhaps Nadal, Ferrerro et all.

Nadal has the X-factor that a lot of talented guys don't have. That's why he can be on the pedestal.

I was actually referring to my wishes...the Nalby and Coria switch :) and Ferrer's chances.
Not so sure about Ljubicic...he was riding on a high confidence in Madrid and Paris also and look what happened. Plus, we're talking clay here.

Aside the Obvious I think these players could have a good run at the 2006 RG:

1- D. Hrbatty: the guy looks solid for any slam right now, as long as he wears that pink shirt.
2- Nicolas Massu: He's getting back some confidence and it takes fitness to win RG, He showed plenty of that at the Olympics. (serious candidate to be a one slam wonder IMO).
3- Filippo Volandri: I'm sorry but this guy's underrated, perhaps cuz he's also an underachiever but he can do it
4- David Ferrer: I like his chances because he's just too smooth on clay, until he chokes though.
5- Juan M. Del Potro (Argentina's new guy): great performance in Vina del Mar and if he gets through the qualies he'll have plenty of time to adjust to Paris and surprise us with a first round upset.
6- Tommy Robredo: He lets me down every year but I still believe he 's got it in him. he's gotta win it at some point, I mean..... Gaudio did it for fcuk sake!!!
7- Jose Acasuso: this one I'd put money on, He had such a good run in Vinadel Mar winning both singles & doubles, but most importantly, he played some sick tennis and is my favorite to cause some trouble in RG
8- Carlos Moya: Carlitos Moya will always be a factor here because he's a former champ and he knows how things get done, just don't get a freaking hair cut right before the tourney like last year cuz you lose balance....alright.
9- Robby Ginepri ( no kidding): Robby is the closest an american can get to win RG in 2006, though perhaps if one of the Brian bros played the singles event then america would have 2 singles through round 1 at least (Bob Brian would kick Roddick or Blake's butt any day on clay).

if the draw is perfect it'll be gasquet vs. nadal and nalbandian vs. federer in the quarters. gasquet beats nadal in 5 sets and fed smokes nalbandian in straight sets. fed goes on to take the whole thing beating gasquet in four. all of this if ofcourse the draw is perfect.
