Does anyone else play this wonderful tennis game? I try to get in a match or two almost every day. It's really good for your mental tennis, especially when the weather is crap -- like it has been here lately with rain.

I like to use everybody, but I find myself using Davydenko and Stan the most.

    I'm on 360 @ feder0v if anyone wants to have a hit!

    Many Many threads about this.

The question is when does Top Spin 5 come out?

I know it's old but still good. Top Spin 5 might be a long way off still but I'd upgrade consoles for it

I was thinking about getting VT4 to mix things up. I've got TS4 and on Wii -- Wii Sports and Mario Power Tennis.

I think TS is the king, but I'm also looking into GST2. Smash Court Looks too clunky. VT2009 wii looks fun but old and graphics suck compared to 360.

Pretty sure TS4 is on PC, and I think there's a PC only game called Tennis Elbow

No it isn't. Virtua Tennis 4 on the other hand is available on PC.
And it's a very good one if you can get over the graphics. IMO best simulation out there due to a very active modding community.

Tennis elbow is a great tennis simulation. Sadly the graphics and sound are bare bones. When I had a 360 top spin 4 was my favorite. As far as I know that series hasn't been offered on pc for a while.

VT4 is arcadey garbage, but sad trolls like me play it anyway because I like career mode.

I've taught myself everyone, and mostly enjoy them -- except for Tomic. I can't harness his serve effectively enough to make it worth taking on all his other horrible stats.
I have a lot of trouble getting wins using Sampras and a Rafter, but still pick them to improve play at the net and keep things fresh.
Simon is really solid in every category.

I find myself up against a ton of (no surprise) Federer, Nadal, Agassi, and to a lesser extent Djo and Rod. Usually without a fellow big 4 dude, they're tough matches and I take a lot of losses to Agassi while holding decent against the others.

I love when people pick outside the box. Some of my best matches are ones like Blake/Chang, Simon/Davy, etc.

I'll be playing this afternoon in 2k open or player match. I hate World Tour because 90+% of people abuse the system to make guys with 98 serve and power and 40 everything else. Despite how dumb that is, it works for them far too often to make it fun using my realistic create-a-pros (for now they're Berdych, Ferrer, Petkovic, and Monfils)

I tried Tennis Elbow and found it looking like Super Nintendo and having horrid controls, even using my 360 controller. Can't say I recommend it, mods or not.
I ordered Virtua Tennis 4, even though I know it's inferior and arcade-ish. I've just played so much Top Spin that I wanted something to mix it up with. Grand Slam 2's reviews put me off it, and Mario Tennis isn't as tight control-wise as I'd like (probably should have got the GameCube version)

Those are my teo favorite guys. The Power Volley and Drop Volley are my two favorite shots. I made it to Legend in career mode, and once you do you create new players and select all their stats from the start. Those online all power and serve guys are no fun, but you can find players who build honest characters. Here are some tips on choosing coaches:

What happened man? You get red ring or just have to sell?

Maybe you could find a used one on Craigslist or something... a copy of top spin shouldn't be more than like 15 bucks

Basically I moved to another country and didn't bring the xbox with me. I now no longer own a television. Now that I have finished my masters however, we may move into a bigger apartment and then it's game on.

Cool. I think PS Vita has a Virtua Tennis, but that's steep cost. PSP had VT3 and I think there's Smash Court but I've never looked or played anything but psp vt3

Just had a heartbreaker against Federer with Kolya

3-4 3-0 7-10 in Melbourne. After the second set I thought I had it! Fed is just too damn good in this.

I am quite dangerous as a serve and volleyer, but useless anywhere else.

Haven't got a good percentage against TT posters, though.

I would however kick everybody's butts at Mario Tennis. I have to get around to recording a match with my friend.

And on another unrelated note, does anyone have OutRun 2006 for PC? If so, I challenge absolutely everyone here and I will win. Every. Single. Time.

STILL waiting on VT4 to show up. Along with Prince of Tennis volumes 3&4

Ah, before my tennis days began but I'll give it a spin on my PC.

I wish you could play doubles with people online. TS4 requires 2 players on a single console on both ends. If it just matched you up online with someone I'm sure the doubles courts would be a lot less vacant.

GST2 demo - right stick shooting is nice, the rest I don't think so. Players don't look as good as I expected. Movement feels fake and unrealistic. Different colored ball trails doesn't do it for me. Roster is just ok. Play feels too fast. AI rushes the net every point. Will buy for $5 or less only.

I'm going at it again, was going to play GTA Online...

And I once again forgot that the game has turned into a festival of unforced errors since the last update.

Yeah I already got rid of GTA 5...

After playing VT4 a little today, I can say TopSpin 4 is by far the undisputed champion of tennis games right now.

    Today's results
Beat Roddick with Davydenko - Carpet (Paris)
Beat Djokovic with Blake - Hard (AO)

Virtua Tennis is hard for me! I'm so used to the premier tennis game... but I'm enjoying mixing it up. Seems like I take an ***-kicking in VT, but when I go back to Top Spin my timing is spot-on!

Today I lost to Nadal and Delpo in VT with Novak and Murray, but went over to TS and won twice, Courier over Simon (hard) and Murray over Becker (grass)

Yeah, I had PS1, PS2, and PSP... but got an Xbox as a gift a long time ago and I've invested a lot in it so I'll ride it out until this generation is truly toast. If TopSpin 5 ever comes out, I'll probably be playing it on PS4 though.

Mostly 2K open, dominated by Federer yes.

Player match isn't much better but for the occasional Becker or Blake.. still lacking variety

Basics of competitive play: use what's the most broken at the moment until it's banned/nerfed. Never stop from doing so.

Net game and Nadal are broken in this game, so I'm not even surprised the slightest. actually both Federer and Nadal are based on their respective 2008/09 forms; I actually think that if it wasn't for Federer being balanced, he wouldn't be picked as much. Roddick was everywhere too before serve was nerfed. Actually I wonder why not more TT denizens are picking Nadal.

It's harder to time perfect swings using a lefty.

Agassi probably has the highest stats overall, but Fed all over the place is bad enough.

I don't mind playing the top guys a lot, but I enjoy some of the matchups with a bit more inherent fairness

I found a fellow Davydenko user though! At least one of us should be able to score some points this 2K season.

On a side note trying to play real tennis, VT, and TS is impossible. The timing is different on all, and the surfaces play different also. I'm trying to keep my TopSpin level high, but it seems I have to lay off Virtua to do it, which doesn't bother me except for the fact I've only had VT about a week. Ah well, at least I'm starting to gather some new friends who don't mind using some different guys and gals, so it's feeling fresh.

Btw, anyone use Zoom Cam in TopSpin? The visuals are so awesome, and the tennis looks so much more alive, but I'm doing it only on one-player mostly because TV cam allows me the most consistent strokes and the best visual of the whole court.
