Hey Guys,

Let me thank you all first for responding so well to all my threads on these message-boards regarding PS 6.0 85, Aerogel 100, etc. You all might not be aware that I don’t have a racquet demo system out here and have to rely solely on feedbacks & reviews available out here.

After studying lot of inputs and reviews, I have short-listed 3 gems (racquets) out of which I want to buy one. They are :

1. Pro-Staff 6.0 85 (Chinese) : All time GREAT racquet with superb feel & control. Downside for me…..quite heavy and demanding frame against hard hitters. You have to be a beast to play with it for 3 sets.

2. Asian K-90 : Some players have posted that it swings much lighter compared to US K90. It is more powerful than PS 6.0 85 and has a slightly bigger head for being a bit more forgiving. Downside for me….Don’t have much feedback on the Asian model of K90. It might have a higher swing-weight compared to PS 6.0 85 and I don’t want a very heavy swinging racquet.

I will be grateful of someone could post the exact specs of Asian K-90.

3. Dunlop Aerogel 100 : FUN racquet as mentioned by most posters. Lighter than AK90 & PS 6.0 85 but still has good control, top-spin & very maneuverable. Downside for me….too underpowered in stock form and begs for customization which I feel will take it near PS 6.0 85 but make it far less maneuverable.

All inputs will be highly appreciated. I want to finalize one and come out of this dilemma soon!

Thanks in advance.

ksm,

The AK90 is 320 grams unstrung, 9 pts. HL. No info on SW.

I've tried it from a guy in the next court. Lighter than my Redondo, plays soft (could be the NXT) and swings easy. Truly a light-weight control stick. The power of the racket could be from the stiffness.

Have you tried the AG100 hands on, as you said it's underpowered in stock foam? You could try solving this problem with good quality strings at the "right" tension.

He said he hasn't the possibility to try these racquets. He's using your observations about the ag100.
I don't think it's underpowered in stock form at all. I was struggling at the beginning, because I could swing it too easily and I found it a little bit stiffer than my Rdx 500s, so that some balls were sailing.
I know the rdx is a very low powered racquet and that it's easy to consider an other one more powerfull, but you can give the ball a lot of speed with the ag100. If you want an heavy ball instead, you'll have to add lead, surely

ksm,

The AK90 is anything but heavy. It swings very, very easy, much, much easier than the PS 6.0 85, IMO. It is lower powered than the US K90 because it's lighter and the US K90 is not a powerful racquet to begin with as it's a control-oriented Mid and player's racquet.

Thanks Guys. Already some valuable inputs are available!

Between AK90 & Aerogel 100....which one is lighter and swings easier?? Also, please compare the power levels of these two racquets.

I think I would rule out the PS 6.0 85 as it has a higher static weight and aswing-weight.

Although I never played with my AG100 stock, my guess is that compared stock-to-stock, the AK90 and the AG100 will swing about the same and the power levels will be about the same, although the AK90 may feel a tad heavier in static weight, but probably not even noticeable as it's only about 5 grams difference. They are both very headlight racquets.

Thanks BP...you have been a great help always.

I think I will have to be a bit more patient and wait for some feedback & specs of Asian K90 and then decide between AK90 & Aerogel 100. Rightly said by you....both seem to be GREAT racquets.

Why not try the Yonex RDS001 mid if you want smaller head sizes. It cant hurt to try it.

EDIT - I just saw you cant demo, so maybe someone on her who has experience with the RDS001 can give you some info on how it compares to the sticks you just mentioned.

I have the ak90 and ag100 right now and both are stock with one dampener and one overgrip. The ag100 swings and plays a bit easier than the ak90 although the ak90 is slightly more solid than the ag100. If I were to play with one more, it'd have to be with the ag100 just because it'd be easier to wield for 3 sets.

You are best person to help me as you have both Asian K90 & Aerogel 100 in stock form!

I will be really grateful if you could give some more inputs on these two and compare them in terms of serves, control, power, groundies, spin potential, slice, volleys, maneuverability, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with almost everything you've written except the last part. I have added 5 grams of leadtape to my AG100 and this enhances the stability and plow-through, but it is still a very maneuverable stick.

Go here: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=211949&page=2

You can over-do it and make it sluggish (like a K90), but then take off some lead so it's just right.

(I did not try an AK90, just the standard K90 demo from TW.)

aerogel 100 is a stiff peice of junk but intermediate players might enjoy it. I find it funny that no-one asked about your age, style/level of play, age, injuries etc. I have tried all three frames. Just played 2 sets with the 6.0 and found it awesome, not at all cumbersome. Likely that you need more power (as opposed to less like me) so you should go with the new plastic racquets like the K90 and the ag100, what is your level of play and current stick, what do you/ don't you get from it?
