Tourna Grip Original alternatives?

I like the Tourna Grip Original, but I don't like that the 30-pack comes untapered on the grip and uncut on the tape.

I like Pacific xTR, but the orange color is hideous, and doesn't last as long as when they used to make it in blue.

Are there any other overgrips as good as Tourna Grip Original but are less time-consuming to put on? Perhaps Gamma Pro Wrap? Thanks.

IMO the hands down best alternative to Tournagrip Original blue is a Japanese accessories brand Winning Shot and their product Tough Dry. More or less the same shade of blue as Tourna blue but the quality is amazing. Received one as a freebie sample and haven't looked back. Top notch.

The new Prince DryPro overgrips are very similar to Tourna, but are green.

Thanks, but I can't find either of those here on TW! How about something more easily available?

wonder if its OEM'd by Kimony

Kimony sells overgrip in blue/white/black colour choice that feels
much like Tourna original, possibly lasts slightly longer.
Comes cut with tape on the tip.

If Kimony also do a "wet feeling" version in those same colours as Winning Shot does then yes I would say Winning Shot brand is OEM'ed by Kimony. The Tough Dry is a great grip. Unfortunately the Japanese seller says they cannot ship to US because it infringes Tournagrip for some reason. Despite being the same colour and having the same red coloured finishing tape I can't see how that in itself infringes Tourna's IP, unless they trademarked it?

yeah Tourna probably trademarked the blue colour (that doesn't slip!)

I get their KGT100 locally 'cos the LPS is a fan & brings it in himself.
He stocks 6-8 colours but I see they have over a dozen in JP
    http://www.kimony.com/english/grip/kgt100.html

I also buy KGT133 which is Hi-Soft EX Wet Ultrathin, 0.3mm handy
for where I can't use Tournatac. 4 colours & their "navy" is quite close! ;)

I just don't like the roll of finishing tape vs the cut pieces,
the roll stuff keeps squirming for me whereas the cut tape doesn't.

    Ain't huge savings buying 30pk vs 3x 10roll anyways so I buy 10s.

You don't need a taper at all. At the end of the wrap, before you tape, simply fold the last few inches into the taper shape. It works perfectly.

You can fold the start too, if you like building up the butt end.

The latest pack of 30 I bought has cut tape. Which is a shame, as I actually prefer the roll!

Pro's Pro Aquazorb 55 if you don't sweat too much. Good equivalence, won't last long just like the Tourna, but much cheaper. If you have a hose in your hands Aquazorb Plus works really, really well.

O really? Is it new stock with the big "TOURNA" printing? Got a 10pk recently.
Was wondering why they changed the design after so many yrs

Eyeing some MegaTac now but no 10pk easily available.

The solinco dry grips are pretty similar, they are just a bit thicker.

I tried the Tourna Grip new Mega Tac. It is great at first but it will not be a decent warm weather grip. When it get damp all bets are off.

Wow. just wow. i was a diehard Tournagrip guy (used the XXL version) since my hands sweat alot and i get blisters from tacky grips but i allways hated its durability (2 sessions max and u had to replace it). I kinda endured the durability issue cause i found the feeling and the grip u get from them very good but recently after reading this topic i risked it and bought the Solinco Heaven Gray overgrips x30 and i must say they are amazing. Durability is at least twice as good, the absorbtion is the same if not better and they the grip with them is on par with the tournagrips. It is a little thicker but not as much to rly notice the difference, oh and they dont get the tearing effect the tourna does.
to sum it all up im switching to the Solinco Heaven grips.

Can't you just cut it so it is tapered?
That's what I did when I used an overgrip that didn't come tapered.

haha don't ALL Tourna come untapered?

either keep a stubby pair of scissors in your kitbag or
Precut both ends at home and reroll into individual rolls

    yeah it takes work :)

Klippermate over grips, a four pack roll for about $2.50 in varying colors. The over grip is actually about four inches longer than tourna grip or any grip for that matter.

The heaven grips are very nice, but definetly thicker than Tourna Grip. I wish they made them a little thinner.

It's also the best feel of any over grip I've ever tried.
