    Just curious Everybody,

We've all or most of us have played USTA tournaments by signing up and paying entry fees, etc.

How do the pros "sign up" for tournaments anyway? Obviously the highest ranked players gain direct entry but how they get in? Do they submit entries like we do in our tournaments and such?

I think it'd be interesting to know...

I believe the ATP operates a web-based admin system that pro's use (or their gophers in the case of the top guys).

    Between the baseline and netcord.
I think that their managers go over the calendar at the beginning of the year, or end of the previous season and select which touney's that player wants to participate in.
Then the manager, goes through the proper ATP channels and submits entry with IPIN # and the rest is automated.

Entry into a tournament is based on the player's ranking 6 weeks prior to the event (tournament seeding are based on the current rankings). The top ranked players can plan their schedule for the year while the lower ranked players have to plan more short term.
