Can somebody help me? I am from NY and I have L1+ (sectional) L1's, L2's, and L3's. What is a L7 in, let's say, CT compared to the tournament "levels" in my area? Thanks a lot!

I just posted a similar response to the thread next to yours. Go take a look at it.

A short answer is, know the differences between Sectional levels and National Levels.

An L1 Sectional is equivalent to a L3 National.

NY & CT are NOT in the same Section. NY is in the Eastern Section & CT is in the New England Section. You cannot do a Sectional L1 in both. Matter of fact, I don't think the tournaments become "open" to out-of-section players until National L5, which is approximately Sectional L4.

So, for example, a CT L4 is the same as a NY L4.

Since your states are so close to each other, it's not uncommon for competitors to jump state lines & regions and play in both. If you're not sure, contact the tournament director or your Sectional rep.

level 7s are a mix of some good kids (some in the 50s) to unranked kids. lots of variety here

6s - usually good players, some unranked and low ranked with kids in the top 10 some times, but usually top 15-30 some play.

    5s top 50 play these

4s are the best top 30

    3s are sectionals

Ok Thanks. But if I were to play the New England JR. Hard Court Championships 12, 14, 16, 18 Level 5 later on this summer, the points I win would be included into the sectional Eastern ranking, right?

To answer the question if it hasn't been answered is that it won't count for Eastern but may count for National
