    TRN Downtime

Apologies for the downtime at the TRN website - We are experiencing some problems with hardware controllers in our facility. We are working as fast as we can to resolve this issue - thanks for your patience!

Still working things at TRN - As Julie mentioned in her post above, we have a controller card that has failed. We are working with vendors to get a replacement card as quickly as possible.

I'll post something when we are back up.

    Best,
    Dallas

Also time to implement hardware redundancy or at least have spares onsite. You are a serious business now.

Either is viable. OPEX v. CAPEX. Pick your poison.

If Dallas wants to know more contact me via email. Solicitation out..........

We are off site. Our servers are in a rack in a colocation facility in Atlanta. We take backups of the data twice a week, and we stock replacements for all the hardware. In this case, we had a card fail and the backup card did not work. We have a vendor that is meeting us at the facility early this afternoon.

All that said, we obviously need to do a better job. Being down for two days is an inconvenience for our users - and we are obviously not making money while our site is down.

    Best regards,
    Dallas

Sounds like you have a hybrid hosted model and have thought through contingency plans. Chalk is right, stuff happen even to the best laid plans. I'm sure you'll be back up soon.

True enough. But Wall Street is a bit higher up the food chain than we are. We are four people strong - and I still have a day job. :)

    Dallas,
I know very little about your site but do know lots of folks visit it. With the USTA eliminating 10s and lots of Folks in SoFla looking for Match Play vice playing 12s have you been asked or considered adding something to facilitate parents of 10s who want to play regulation getting together? Match Maker....

Wow - you beat me to it! I just remapped the IP address to the production server, posted a comment to Facebook, and then came over here to post something as well.

    FYI:

    (1) With the downtime, we did not get a chance to update player profiles over the past two nights with the latest rankings and match play. We are in the process of building those profiles right now. By tomorrow morning, all player profiles should be up-to-date. You can see the "last updated time" at the bottom of the profiles.

    (2) For Recruiting and Coaching Advantage members, we plan to extend subscriptions to make up for the down time. Please bear with us - we are working out the details.

    Best regards,
    Dallas

Trust me it is not just Wallstreet IT all corporate IT does the fire drill when a forward facing website goes down. The worst is explaining it to the business. Good job getting it back up so quickly, clearly you have some competent folks.

    vs. 5-Star: 0-0

    vs. 4-Star: 0-4

    vs. 3-Star: 2-2

    vs. 2-Star: 6-1

Dalas, can you explain why this player is 4 stars? I saw this girl played and it was very bad.

    Ninaz -

I agree that it looks suspicious. Those summaries on the player pages do not tell the whole story. There are many reasons why she might be highly-ranked. For example, if I told you that this player was a sixth-grader and the majority of her opponents were juniors and seniors, then it would make more sense.

Rather than talk vaguely on a chat board, why don't you send me an email at dallas@tennisrecruiting.net with a specific player, and I will take a look.

    Best,
    Dallas

Been a member for 5 years or so. 2 down days in all that time. I'll take that reliability for the price! Good job getting back up as quickly as you did.
