Tsitsipas comments on playing Medvedev - “It’s just boring”

Do you remember how Federer was? So far Tsitsipas has had better behaviour than Federer had. Yes its being immature, but it is a killer instinct and they hate to lose so much. The way they sometimes snap is probably just a small part of what they actually feel, its so much more, cause they do try to keep it together as we all do. To say the brutal truth: They probably cry at home sometimes after losses. Thats the difference between we sitting here online and they being out there on court working hard. They hate losing intensely. Just that itself, is pretty immature. Why they have to win? Why do they have to do all this big stuff in their life to prove to themselves they are worthy? Its giving us entertainment, thats for sure. Its giving us many things in life, from people w this drive. But its a nightmare being w them in the private sphere, as they are egoistic and immature, they arent spiritually developed or having peace w themselves.

Novak is probably the one of the big 3 that is most loved. As his fans love him unconditionally. The Serb thing. Federer fans leave and talk **** about him when he is not doing well. Just look in this forum, most of them are gone now. Try to put things into persepctive, you cannot say a player isnt loved when he has million of fans. Quality is better than quantity.
I don't disagree at all with what you are saying here. That's why people change as they age. The moment you have kids, everything changes. People over the age of 30 are very different from who they are at 21 or 25. But don't make assumptions about who works hard and who doesn't. I'm up most of the night every night working on teaching materials and trying to push boundaries for my students, and I've been doing this for almost 50 years, as a teacher.

There are different goals involved in trying to win and in trying to help other people become the best that they can be. That's why so many of the most talented people in the world are often so unhappy. It's not just the need to win that can be so lonely and hard on people around you. Creative people are often very hard to be around because the ego to create often does not have any time for feelings. I'm convinced that many former champions actually lead happier lives after they retire - time to smell the roses so to speak.

He was beating a younger Sampras at 19. And Agassi too afterwards.

Federer nearly defeated Djokodal at almost 38 to win a slam, so he would definitely do better than Stefanos.

Heck, a 35+ year old Fed has had a very good track record against a Nadal who destroyed Tsitsipas.

It's safe to say this 3 GOATS stuff is overstated.
How are older fed results important in a discussion about achievements at a younger age?

Federer came damn near close, even if he lost. Tsitsi this year would have needed a miracle to even come this close.

And like I said, a 35+ year old Fed has been beating Nadal on a regular basis, so it's a bit embarrassing that a 20 year old got destroyed by that same Nadal.

Yes, Fed wasn't beating Sampras on a regular basis, but the fact is he DID beat him at Pete's best slam at only 19. He didn't get owned by an older Nadal like Tsitsipas did.

Enough with your 3 GOATS propaganda just to excuse Tsits's shortcomings (who are unrelated to the 3 GOATS anyway, as he is 3-3 in slams after AO this year).
Again. The discussion was about the young guys' achievements at the young age of 20/21. Fed has 1 win against a slumping Sampras but at the same time he got destroyed by Henman, Rafter, and a bunch of other older players at that same stage in his career. Besides, no one is saying that Tsitsi or Med are Fed caliber players. We are just asserting that they may be the next 1-2 in the world in 2020/2021. Rafa,Djoker and Fed have to retire at some point.

Argument 1: Fed defeated Sampras. Tsitsipas got destroyed by an older Nadal.

Argument 2: Sampras lost consecutive USO finals to Safin and Hewitt. And at the time, he was a GOAT too. Proof that strong young players can beat a GOAT.

Argument 3: Tsitsipas's ineptitude this year has little to do with the 3 GOATS as he is 3-3 in slams after AO.

Good enough for you?
1: Fed lost to Henman in the very next round
2: Sampras beat Hewitt and Safin in subsequent events, also Safin and Hewitt did not amount to much once Fed showed up.
3: See #1

That's ok and all, but when I did say that Fed won Wimb at 21 years and 11 months, the first reply was "3 GOATS". That pretty much implies what I said.

And there aren't three? Look, as a Fed fan, you can keep harping on the difference between 1-2-3 slams but to the younger generation trying to make their way, it makes little difference. All three are more or less equally as formidable. Why is this even so hard to admit?

It's time to stop sugarcoating their performances.

Tsitsipas was destroyed by a Nadal who didn't even play that great at the AO this year.

So too was Fed destroyed by Agassi in the 2001 USO, not long after his breakthrough win over Sampras at Wimbledon. There is literally nothing new about this. Nobody expected Medvedev to go on such a tear in the second half of the season. Anybody who wants to be wise in hindsight and pretend it was obvious is just fooling.

That's a bad metric; most of the Nole fans who disappeared when he slumped in 2016 STILL haven't come back, even after his awesome comeback. There isn't any major difference this way between the fanbases of either player though, of course, some fans want badly to believe THEIR fanbase is different/superior (and this happens w.r.t any topic, like Pink Floyd fans thinking they are so mature compared to Metallica fans etc and then they will force AMLOR down your throat). Most 'fans' are just bandwagoners and glory hunters who lose interest when their player is not doing well. The ones who hang on in the forum are either super obsessive about their favourite and will stay back to keep doing battle against the other fanbases or they happen to be tennis fans and keep watching regardless. Like, I am not going to stop watching this sport after Fed is done. Frankly, I don't even understand where people who say such things are coming from.

The impression I have is that Federer got more glory hunter fans than any other fan base.

See, case in point, every fanbase thinks the other one(s) is the one with glory hunters. Nothing like that, all three fanbases have plenty of glory hunters. You don't see it because you probably think the Nadalovic glory hunting is completely justified while Fed is undeserving. I think all three are the greatest tennis has had in a long time.
