The young frenchman hit a 144 mph serve in his match loss to Canas. WOW!!!!

Isn't that the second fastest serve recorded by someone other than Roddick? I know Dent has one right up there, but don't know the exact speed.

Canas got the serve back in play, but barely. The return was a meatball, short and high, and Tsonga smacked an inside-in forehand winner.

Yea but roddick can hit in the 140s and 150s consistently not once in a whole match.

Yeah, I think J Johannson had a 147 or 148 at the Open in his Roddick QF match. That was a pretty sick match. I still hear my balls ringing from some of the ridiculous bombs those guys were hitting in that one.

    French tennis

With Tsonga, Gasquet, and now Monfils entering the pro ranks, French tennis seems to have a bright future.

He'll have to learn to serve that fast and win...then I'll be impressed.

Or learn to not serve as fast, substituting some imagination for power, and get a higher percentage of serves in - and win.

I always wonder about those who are so impressed by serve speeds that they wholly discount the outcome of the match.

Your memory is right. Dent has 143 or 144.

As far the 2nd serve, it still belongs as far as I know to Rusedski with 148mph.
