Is anyone a real fan of Tsonga? I'm trying to get into liking him, but there's something about him I'm not to crazy about. The man is good, so this isn't a hate Tsonga thread, I'm curious.

Cheers,

Tim

I like his dropshots and feel at the net but I don't like his showboating/gloating. His destruction of Nadal at AO was entertaining and demonstrated some of his unique shots.

All in all, I enjoy watching him play a lot more than I enjoy watching a lot of other people play. Does that answer the question of whether or not I'm a real fan, I'm not sure.

Yup I'm a big fan of him. We haven't seen the best of him since he's usually coming out of an injury.
Hopefully he'll be healthy fr the TMC and AO.

Badminton? No way. I'm pretty sure it's a squash frame.

I'm going to watch his next Masters cup match and then try to come to some sort of conclusion about what I think of his game.

Cheers,

Tim

could be...:) but i wouldnt know that because according to the very respectfull spanish poster i "exude mediocrity", because i dont know nothing about tennis.

you should really watch him, this of course if you apreciate a tennis player that uses every shot in the book with considerable success!

Tsonga, boom-a-yeh! Tsonga, boom-a-yeh!

I root for him, for sure. Very easy player to like.
If there's anything negative, it's that he plays a little bit too defensively at times.

It's easy to sit here and say it, but, I think he's better off attacking...keeping the points shorter. He's even more like Boris there, too: stubborn. He's actually become one of the better volleyers out there, and I hope he continues his rise.

I'd love to see him contending for Slams, getting into lots more big matches against the likes of Rafa, Murray, Djokovic and Roger.

Count me in, it seems impossible not to like him, beautiful, exciting and entertaining game, great energy on court.
The high five with Moya after jumping over the net was sweet

Its a broomstick, very head heavy, tournament nylon bristles, great reach at the net, tiny sweetspot but can hit on a dime, the W stencil stands for Wilfried (not Wilson as some fake tennis fans think). No wait, W for Walmart.

he's my favorite player. love when he's playing offensive, he's so good at the net, his drop shots are fantastic and his ground strokes are huge when he's on.

as for his "show boating/gloating" it's pretty much nonexistent. he goes crazy when he wins but who cares? through out the match he is pretty reserved.

I'm kind of bitter he took out my AO pick for 2008 in Nadal, but you can't get mad at him. The fashion he did it was just breath-taking. I wanted to hate him, but you can't help but watch his great tennis.

Oh i remember when he went nonchalantly to his chair after he won, head down like he was tired. Then suddenly he came to life jumping up and down celebrating, I laughed so hard! he's funny for sure.
