Just a poll to see who you think is the best up-and-comer — otherwise, people 21 years or under (can not be celebrating 22nd birthday in 2006). Base your vote upon whatever you want. Multiple choice.

For me, it's Nadal (surprisingly), Baghdatis, Murray, Gasquet and Del Potro. I couldn't decide! XD

EDIT: Sure enough, there would have been quite a few of these, but after Almagro I had to keep on searching and searching through the rankings. Everybody was too old! LOL. Finally, good old Del Potro showed up at #106.

monfils will be the next safin

    gasquet the next federer

baggy the next boris becker/jim courier

alarmago the tru clay court threat from now on

Let's take Nadal out in order to make this poll a little more interesting.

Nadal already arrived loud and clearly...

Nadal should not be in that list like Dunn mentioned, he has 2 FO titles at least, the other guys have noned.I like Bags from that group if he gets his head on straight and stays away from injuries although he has one right now!!!

Well, yes, I know Nadal shouldn't have been in the poll, but he's under 22, so...

wow it seems that Gasquet is really highly rated in this board!
for him to get the same number of votes as Nadal!
just hope he'll justify the hype (and i don t have any doubt he'll do it  )

i think he'll win a big title(MS or GS) in the year to come

Well, obviously Nadal if he's in the poll.

If you take out Nadal, I think Gasquet and Berdych are the best.

Nadal'll win the poll if we don't get more voters for Gasquet soon... surely there's more than 38 people?

Exactly !!! Not to say this Thread isn't good but I would have asked, "Who's blah blah that hasn't won a Slam Title Yet ? "
Pregunta ? Would someone be considered an Up-n-Comer that has been on the Tour playing a full schedule for over a year or two ?

Anyway, I like those that named Monfils. Damn does that kid fight or what ? He goes for excitement and gets the crowd really worked up. You gotta like the way he tries to over-power his opponents. It's like his whole game plan is to out hit the other guy. As soon as he starts to play a smarter game and conserve some of that energy he puts out, he's going to be a tough customer to deal with.

Sorry people for the triple post but it's always been hard for me to answer or address any question that starts with BEST or GREATEST. I can deal with thoughts like, Promising, Potential, Most Accomplished. Things you can take a bite on. If I say My Man Baghdatis is the Best, I'd better start ducking because I know as well as anyone even though he's a whole lotta fun to watch, he can't even be in a conversation about Best this or that. So it makes this list somewhat one-sided when you think about Nadal being there. I didn't vote in the Poll but I'm almost certain he should be somewhere around 100% or maybe 90% if Duce voted.

I thought about that but I was wondering if a person is reading it while I'm editing it, does it change in realtime ? So by time they finish reading, it's something else ???

If they're reading it while you're editing it, it doesn't change. It will the next time that person views the page.

lol... you can't possibly be serious...
gasquet is the biggest f@g ever...he is completely out of control mentally, although talented. He fricken chucked his racket at a linesperson at the us open some years back. I like monfils more than him which is saying alot...talent wise he is up there but he will never make it unless he gets his act together mentally (he will never be like federer)

monfils could make it although his game is hideous.... not GS champ but contender

berdych has some serious game but mentally fragile

Del Potro has some good stats (6'5 w/ wins over ginepri and moya) but he shouldn't be included on this list as he hasn't prooved anything at all YET

baghdatis is the biggest prospect of all.. he has the shots the attitude and likeability of a champ...

forgot murray- mental case at its finest except behind gasquet...his game is interesting and practical but he is a pain to watch when he is down...makes me want to kill myself

and almagro-big game, sort of a bad sport

edit: djocovic has a big forehand... top 10 material maybe...

ok, he was out of control mentally at that time, but he composed himself pretty well against Hewitt, getting two sets after the losing the first two, and he can only get better

Given that Nadal is already #2 (for now at least), Gasguet is winning so far. :)

Uhh, okdude1992, the poll is for people 21 or under. Subsequently, their mental games aren't as good as their seniors. Their mental games are very likely to develop over time, so I think you really should give them a break until then.

Maybe Nadal wins the poll because he is World #2, has won Masters titles on both hard courts and clay, and 2 Grand Slams? ;)

    Golly gee! You think?! XD

I'm looking for the top three people in this poll, and Gasquet'll be one of them, anyway... the poll only has 14 hours to go.

Yeah, Gasquet is pretty close to Nadal at this point.
Gasquet has 3 titles, Nadal only 2 slams I give the edge to Gasquet.
And Baggy just won his first title, so why not say he's better.

I was hoping to see Djokovic get more votes. To me he is the most talented of the up and comers. Gasquet is also talented. Berdych is one dimensional, and needs some flexability in his game if he is going anywhere. Monfils's career peak will be as a junior. If working with Gilbert does not break Murray into the elite he might never make it, so the next few years will be interesting to see.
