I can hit something similar to a kick serve. I contact the ball over my head, swinging mostly on a plane parallel to the net. The ball tends to jerk up w/some topspin. But this does not create the angled arching trajectory I want. It's almost entirely vertical. :( . I am using an eastern bh grip, btw.

    1) How do you generate more sidespin? In previous threads, posters have said you should aim mostly up and towards the opposite net post. Is the bit in italics what generates the appropriate sidespin? When I try that, I usually screw up and hit the ball out of the court.

    2) Is the jerk (almost like a shearing effect) what I want? I don't think so because in this thread http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=18490&page=2&pp=15 someone says you pronate into the ball. If pronations occurs when you turn your palm out, then it sounds like I should contact the ball with a more open racquet face (more like a flat serve) than what I'm doing now.

    Thanks in advance.
