I asked this in the Football thread: exactly where has the thread disappeared to, and why?

I don't know but as all the others are here i'd imagine some sort of policy breach?
    Maybe........

Can someone tell us why it's gone?

If it was a policy breach then a warning should of been given, not delete the damn thread. Anyone noticed any other threads that have dissapeared?

Come on guys. This is NOT the classifieds. Many of you used that thread to buy and sell, with no moderation. It had become increasingly abused, and we do not have the time to continually delete posts clearly breaking policy. The thread will not be cleaned up nor restored. If you want to continue this thread, that is fine, but any users trying to buy or sell product will be permanently banned. There's your warning.

Fair do's, thanks for the response. Would it be possible to have a either a UK or Europe classified section as the main on is 90% American and hard for us to deal? I'm just throwing and idea out there TW. Take it easy

I understand the concern, and it has been discussed with TW Europe. We just haven't worked out any logistics. I'll bring it to the table again, and see where we can go with it.

Thanks Spencer, that clears the issue up. And I would also like to voice my support for an EU buy/sell section - the previous thread was the only real way to efficiently buy and sell UK based items as they are too easily lost in the worldwide buy/sell section.

Dave M - this thread will likely build up some steam again and new UK users may not be aware of the breach of policy that was carried out in the previous thread. Therefore it may be a good idea to insert some form of notice (i.e Trading NOT Allowed or NO Commercial Posts) in either the thread title or your initial post.

Second this. It's a pity to see a lot of the discussions lost but understand the deletion now. Pity as it was very useful and the F/S section is basically useless if you are in the UK.

Personally I dont think it should have been deleted, only the post should of been deleted and them noticed should of been given and a thread so everyone in odds and ends can see that says no selling/trading etc..

Now its done please TW but a notice up as people have rightly said new members will not know no selling etc in odds and ends.

I also agree with the idea for a fs/ft trade section for europe,

Firstly, TT is a free service so I don't think it is right of us to expect the staff to spend hours of their time pouring through thousands of posts.

Secondly, TWs rules on posting items for sale in sections other than For Sale/For Trade are clearly displayed in 'Board Policies':

    5. (....) For sale posts and messages are permitted in the For Sale forum only. Posts in other forums will be removed and may result in the user being banned. No for sale posting or commercial links in signatures or user profiles.

I think we need to remember that this is an excellent forum that is provided gratis and we shouldn't expect the world from those that have the laborious task of keeping the site moderated.

I completly understand and agree that we should be grateful for this forum as we can freely post and advertise under the fs sale section on so forth.

What my PERSONAL point of view is, rather than deleting the whole thing, as spence stated "we do not have the time to continually delete posts clearly breaking policy"
I am not asking them to do that, it would be better for there to be a thread pinned so everyone can see that this section is not allowed for selling or trading etc most importantly the new members and for them to only post in the fs section.
What you got to understand is new users may just come in here and post there first reply and say looking to sell so and so.. He might not of even been to the fs section.

I think it would be easier to keep a thread pinned at the top of the odds and ends section reason being its a reminder for everyone, not just those reading this page at this moment in time. Now that I know we can not post to sell items here, several pages in there would be another person who is new to it who will post to sell something, obviously we would tell him its not allowed but TW Staff will have to go and delete the post...

Hmm.... understood but c'mon Spence, a little snidey perhaps?

Ah well, we'll make this as great as the old one, minus the buying/selling.

    Subscribing as we speak....

Maybe I should make it my sig so new users to UKTRTBs will not even attempt it.

Ah well, goodbye old thread, hello new thread.

Pity the old thread got trashed, but rules are rules I suppose.

We definately need a UK / EU only classified section though. That would be great help.

Are those balls really flat ? Just looking at the way the ball lands and reacts off the court and doesn't look like much is on it that all.

Not a critisism, only an observation :)

Should get some videos up in the next few days of me hitting and stuff :) maybe even post one of me stringing !

Technically I prefer your backhand mate, nice swing and your hit it smooth. Your forehand is a loopy swing. Looks like you take the ball a bit late and fall back sometimes but looks like you hit a heavy ball? I am going to record me next week. Good to get some feedback. Nice one bro

Good observation about the balls :p, yeah I just took some balls from the clubhouse that I think the coach uses for the younger kids and some were decent, some were flat and some as you said were really flat. At least it meant my footwork had to be good so I could react to the 'no bouncers' :p, I will try and get some more footage up within the next few days of me hitting with one of my mates (with decent balls (no not my mate ;P)).

Cheers for your feedback baseline_monster, yeah most people who have seen the video and my coach says my backhand is my strongest shot (and I feel the same way). Going to try and work on shortening the forehand a bit (easier to time?) and getting my body weight foreward (more aggressive). About the heavy ball, not sure if its because the balls were heavy (flat), but I think I do hit a relatively heavy ball, particularly on the backhand.

Yeah it's definately worth recording yourself and getting some opinions. I'de have never noticed how big my forehand swing actually is. Looking forward to seeing your video.

Guys I reckon we simply post in the for sale/trade section and link to the thread in here. I presume that's not a violation of policy as the aim of keeping it to that section is to moderate it as I understand it.

Why dont we just have a UK for sale thread in the classifieds section here and put all our trades under that one thread?

I wonder why TW decided to delete the old thread now? The UK trades had been going on for a year or so and the moderators obviously knew about them. So something must have dictated the change of policy. If there are some types of trade/sale they object to they should say -- it could be that they dont like sub-sales based around purchases from retailers other than TW. If that is right I can I understand their point of view.

But I don't think that any of us have ever had a complaint about any of the straight second hand racket trades/sales that we completed under the auspices of the old thread. That is more than can be said for the classified section.

CC, i think they were probably aware but maybe turned a blind eye to the odd post here or there, lately a few of the pages were 75% for sale ones and maybe they thought it was taking hte mick a bit.

Possibly, but it seems a little lame. The trades/sales were carried on very responsibly. And it makes sense to have a dedicated thread for UK business.

    EU business...
The trouble with EU (UK) - US trading / selling is the possible import tax and the bigger shipping fees.
Between the UK and the rest of the EU that problem doesn't exist.

Ok after 2 days of having no email and internet, I was very confused to find the UKRTB's thread to only have 3 pages.

Having skimmed through and given it some thought the response from TW doesn't make any sense.

They allow people to buy/sell and trade racquets in the for sale section (which as we all know is 99.99% US based) but US with no FS/FT section get deleted!

It doesn't make any sense to me, it's the same forum!

I can understand them getting annoyed when competitors are listed for product.

Bit drastic if you ask me.

Bottom line, there are rules on this forum. The thread was deleted because it was abusing the "no buying/selling outside of the classifieds" policy to an alarming degree.

It looks as though this thread is on the right track, and while we try to figure out logistics for a Europe Only FS/T forum, Origmarm's idea for the time being is excellent. Once your ad is approved and posted in the fs/t forums, you can post the links here in this thread.

We understand some of you are not thrilled with the previous thread being deleted, but continual complaints are going to eventually lead to possible bans, as we do not tolerate the flaming of moderation. That is also stated in our forum policies.

Guys I think we should just move on. I feel it for the original members who started it, it was one of the biggest threads on here but TW has made the choice and it cant be undone. If they say there working on a thread for Europe/ UK then they are and I think they will deliver on that. It was harsh in my opinion but in the the end rules are rules and in places we all broke them. They could have been REALLY harsh and banned a lot of people but I think they see that were good posters and have a bit of a UK community on here and have given us the benefit of the doubt. Luckily no deals went wrong but if one did we would have all been in a bad position. Onwards and upwards boys, show the English heart!!!
