^^^I think generally the good reason is that the opposition are just better at the moment :) Given more time on tour Heather and Laura really could contend at the highest level (well they already are, but I mean at slam level and regularly).

    Cheers

    Good point.
I know it's very hard to make it on the pro circuit, there are so many amazing players, success is a miracle.
Not sure about Heather and Laura reaching the top, the top is, as the Americans say, stacked!

    Hi folks.

Has anyone hit with the Yonex RDiS 300? What are your views on this frame?

    Power/comfort/feel/stability.

    TIA.

I used the rds 300 for a while and told the local yonex pro i was looking for something new he said it was much better than the 003 so i had a couple of hours with it.It was a strange one, it had power quite a bit in fact and it wasn't uncomfortable to use in practice but i didn't feel i was totally in control of what was going on, I suppose that is down to the feedback?I knew what i was trying to do and the ball did often do it but I rarely hit a shot where i could feel it's outcome as it left the strings as i have with many frames. I did feel it would have to be tinkered with for the sake of stability, I hit with a good club player that night so some balls were flying but if someone were hitting hard and consistantly at me then i think it'd need help.

    Thanks Dave.

I hope it's nothing like the Yonex I hit with (?RQiS) which was horrible.

I emailed Framework and they told me that they could only get the 85 grommets in the UK. Emailed Wilson and they couldn't help. Proving very hard to find.

Yeah, bloody impossible! I'm not aware of any other frame that shares the same mold.........maybe we should have used 6.1's!

    Anything is possible.

Still gutted about Fed's loss, was expecting it but still, couldn't he have fought harder? Brain cramps against Nadal are embarrassing. I wish he had had a proper rival during his formative years, maybe he would have learnt how to be mentally tough and to grind out wins.

Back on topic, Murray hasn't really been tested yet. Not seen him do anything fabulous, this is his first real test IMHO. We shall see what Lendl brings....

Fed's legacy is resting on a Djokovic win today and on Sunday.

Yeah it will be his first test for sure, I haven't seen too much of him so far but he it seems like he's just quietly gone through the rounds with no dramas or 5 setters etc which will help him, at least he can't be too tired.

Murray does seem different now, must be the Lendl effect. He does need to step in and be aggressive or it'll be an early shower for sure.

Shame he didn't get Fed in the semis, Rafa and Novak are on fire!

Just a shame I'll be at work when its on tv...........:(

Maybe the new prostaff 95 purposely came with a 16x19 pattern so 6.0 95 users would have to update.

What string would you recommend for the 6.0 95? Mine came with an 8 year old string job and I haven't got round to restringing it yet.

    Thanks

I always used to use hybrids, my favourite was Blackcode 1.24 mains with syn gut crosses. I've been using a few different sticks over the last couple of years and have just gone back to my 95's, and it seems that now my shoulder really doesn't like poly at all, so I'm gonna try some multi's for something different but I suspect I'll just end up going for a nice stiff syn gut in the long term.

    Pure Drive Gen 1

Picked up a 1st gen Pure Drive a little while ago....

Hit with it for a session. Didn't feel as stiff as I thought it would be (rated 67RA on the raq). Might need a bit of lead.

My shoulder aches though, that concerns me a bit. May need a serve adjustment as that's where I think the ache comes from.

Will give it another go with my regular hitting partner and see how it stacks up.

It's highly regarded isn't it? Chuffed!

    Swingweight v Static weight

    Hi guys,

Just wondering what makes the arm tired, swingweight or static weight.

Today, I felt very tired and sluggish towards the end of a 2 hr hit and this thought popped in my head.

    TIA.

For me, I think it's swingweight. My PS6.0 95's weigh in at 350g strung, with a fairly low swingweight @317 (and 10 pts HL balance) it's very easy to swing these in a 4 hour match without being abnormally knackered.

I've felt like this before, maybe you were just a bit tired before you started playing?:)

Prob a combination, but the service action is not exactly normal is it. I'm very elastic but I do get niggles in my arm and shoulder, they pass quite quickly. I'm dismissive of them due to the fact I get worse pain in my other shoulder from lifting a wine glass!

If its troubling you I would lower the swing weight and stiffness

I'm rather stiff, doesn't help. I've relapsed into racquetaholicsm, expecting another racquet in addition to the pure drive, all in the search for more power.

Played the PD again today. Took it very easy, no full swing serves and my shoulder feels ok. Funny thing is, for the high RA of 67, my elbow's not sore at all.

I hit one or two shots where I could say there was a lot of pace on the ball but I think this is not a proper "tweener" racquet IMHO. You need technique and can't just swing and expect power.

The shots that had real zip, I hit out in front (like I'm supposed to do, LOL!).

    How are y'all doing?

BTW, I think this Pure Drive needs some lead.

    Crappy weekend...

    Crappy weekend for tennis.

My club looks like an icy wasteland, the local indoor tennis facilities have both been fully booked for "events" leaving nothing for individual bookings - a lot of that recently.

I don't want to give all my life savings to David Lloyd...

As I said, crappy weekend for tennis. :(

Quick question - what's the black plastic band in the handle of the racket? i've only removed grips from head rackets so not seen this before. Just curious.

Hi Meags, quick Q. Would adding weight to the handle/butt lower the swingweight of a racquet? I already have an overgrip on mine. The nBlades are rated at 340 sw.

    Thanks.

Question for the stringers out there......

    Guys,

Does anybody know if grommets for the Dunlop Bio 300 Tour 18x20 fit the AG 4D 300 Tour 18x20?

I think they probably will but need to know with some degree of certainty (if poss).

    Cheers.

I know i'm not Meags but i'll chime in, the only way to reduce swingweight is to remove weight. If you put lead in the but cap (for examply) it'll be more headlight and will probably seem easier but I think it'll still have aslightly higher swingweight than originally (though not as higher increase as anywhere else)
Aggro, I've seen that on some wilson and prince frames, I always thought it was to do with getting the frames to spec or strenghtening a handle.
Of course i've been known to be wrong!:)

What with London knee-deep in snow, I've just been sledging with the family in the local park/heath. Actually, when we first arrived I grabbed hold of an old 'tea-tray' type thing (think they're called 'snow gliders') my daughter had, and proceeded to go bombing down the crowded hill at an insane speed, sending startled kiddies and parents scrambling to avoid the this here incoming rocket propelled goon. I eventually ended up going a*** over t** and saturated from head to to toe in the soggy white wet stuff.:)

    Thanks Dave.
I guess that's it then, not going to mess around with removing the bumper guard so will have to plod on. Will lower my string tension in the nblades to see what happens. Currently at 54lbs with a generic stiff string (Cordatec syngut). Will go lower with a softer one when this dies. Might have to cut it out though I'm loathe to waste resources.

Just got back from a hit in the freezing cold - was I transiently mad??

No, thankfully. :) Looks like tennis isn't going to be much of an option certainly for the earlier part of this week.

Dave, BTW, just a quick frame qsn. Re the PT630 and the capless designed in Austria PT280, presuming you've played both, what were the differences?

I had one of each last summer, both were designed in austria well the ones i had and allowing for the string differences really not a lot in it to be honest.I don't remember which one but one was more head heavy (maybe the difference of caps over grommets?)the caps made it (630) feel stiffer but i presume if you took off hte grommets on the 280 and put caps on it that would change. If you like one I didn't think there was enough of a difference to dislike the other.I didn't stick with it because finding them in good nick seemed to be hard to do and so many people were chasing them.
Was the 280 just the non USA release name or were there other differences?

Cheers Dave. I actually have both but have hit very little with the 280 over the years. The PT630 on the other hand, I've hit with loads. But, yes, my slightly vague memories of the 280 are the same as yours really. BTW, I'm not sure re your closing question. I'm a bit off the pace with ATM with this stuff. Think I better get recap and relearn all this on the PT630 thread (all 2 million pages or whatever. :))
