Meags, you asked me a while ago about how I was getting on with the Becker Delta Core Pro.

Well, I strung it up with PSGD and enjoyed the increase in power. However, my shoulder does not seem happy especially when conditions are adverse.

My shoulder is aching and feels heavy. Just a niggle really but I fear it's the racquet mainly.

Will reacquaint myself with my Dunlop....

Ash Or anyone else who's been up to the park, is there a range of paralympic stuff in the shops up there, I'm being quizzed and i see nothing specific, also, is the on site new tennis venue far away from the stadium etc, when we go up tot he w'chair tennis i fancy taking the littel ones around the whole park but one of the maps i downloaded looks like it's a fair way away.cheers.

Dave, there are various versions of the team kits, there are white, blue and red versions of most things (certainly the village wear - the idea being that the whole of TeamGB wears the same colour scheme on the same day, so monday red, tues blue and so on). As for match shirts for the racquet sports, there are certainly a blue and a white version - personally I think the white version is great, not so keen on the blue.

As for shopping, each venue sells some of the general stuff (as on the website), but each venue also has a range of venue or sport specific stuff too. For example at Wimby they had a lot of exclusive olympic t's and key rings and towels etc not available from london2012.com.

As for Eton Manor, yes it's at the far end of the Park, beyond the hockey pitches - it's a fair old wander through from the stadium, probably 20 minutes with the crowds (maybe more if you're pushing K!)

    cheers

If you aren't too picky, then you could always consider one of the football shirts. Those are fairly similar, and are available at pretty much every high street retailer. DW Sports have them at knock down prices already.

hmm...Things seem to have gone a little quiet for TeamGB :-( Lets hope KAP can bring home Gold in the Open Swim today and the 470 boys can fight past the Crims into Gold too!

    Cheers

A guy in the pros racquet and gear section has the Murray shirt. I have asked him where he got it. If he tells I will post the information here.

When they told me that rhythmic gymnastics involves attractive young women performing exercises with clubs I had visions of a celestial driving range. What a disappointment the reality does not quite match up...

Just watched the Synchronized Swimming Team final..........initially for the most obvious reason, but was really struck by those girls' strength and stamina. It was seriously impressive.......all the lifts and throws and the height they stay out of the water. Seriously fit birds lol:wink:!

I think i'd struggle to hold my breath for the length of time they are underwater, add in the dancing about they do i'd have no chance. As a sport i'm mildly more interested in it than wrestling, but way more interesting than boxing.

    Just been watching this.......

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSIx60skGJM

A 19 year-old Federer (15th seed) playing his 1st match on Centre Court.......small matter of beating Sampras. Fascinating to watch. At around 3:10, Fed asking for a racket to be sent away for a restring, and he pulls out a packet of string from his bag to go with the stick........

Now imagine having to do an on-court restring in full gut at a stupid tension for the great Sampras, no pressure!!

They said the torch handover to the new city is tonight, does the flame not get used for the paralympics?
I know they are not covering it but it'd be nice if the bbc admitted that there was another event in a couple of weeks!

^^^The BBC played http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuAPPeRg3Nw earlier today and they interviewed Tanni G-T about the Para's as they have coverage on 5 live, so they've plugged it a bit!

The Paralympic movement has it's own flame and it's own torch relay from 24th to 29th August. The torch is lit at Stoke Mandeville Stadium (birthplace of the Paralympic movement) on 24th before making it's way to the stadium to meet with flames from Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast to light the Paralympic Torch!

Missed the first bit, thanks for the info. I was discussing it with Kaitllin and she said "maybe they start it at Stoke Mandeville instead of Olympia" I should know by now to listen to the females in our house irrespective of age!!!

Apparently I have been a good boy this year, arrived home to find two mahoosive boxes from those lovely people at Babolat, not to mention a couple of pairs of 4.3's and some T's from Nike! Not all rosy in the garden however, didn't get the Jess Ennis I ordered :-(

hmmm, if I went back to Bab with that it might sound a bit like one of those 100% risky free email transactions - "please send monies by western union to receive delivery of your shipment of racquets" :D

BAHHHHHHH just gonna have to send a very lovely email to babolat asking for free stuff. I'm sure that will go well!!

Coaching wise - Hopefully doing the u10 Performance Speciality course in September and October. Should be a good course.

Anyone know of any cheap accomodation in the Bromley Tennis Centre area ??

Thinking sleeping bag on a tennis court.

Well i haven't got a sponsorship yet as i need to do stuff first. boo hiss boo. People are trying to get me stuff though.

I did see the course but at the moment it would serve no purpose for me. I would be good to go to eventually but would still like to do the referees and umpires course etc.

    all money!!!

Yes, K is just 7 and has been doing this to me since she started talking in sentances at a year and driving at 2, you'd think i'd be on the look out for it by now!
The babolat boxes sound exciting, I used to love theirs, there'd always be the stuff i ordered from them but weirdly they'd always be out of stock of something so would send a replacement, I remember one parcel should of had some tennis elbow braces and grips, they didn't have them at the time of posting so sent a cap and an ankle brace....Like a forerunner to asda home shopping experiance really!
Just send them a nice letter!I'm sure they'll love translating it into French before saying non.
In all seriousness though, do we not have a bab rep this way or is it all through shops now?

Guys, Murray to win the USO now that Rafa's out!

    Wager, anyone?

PS: Before you part with hard earned cash, Rafa's the only one hard enough to withstand Muzza in a tough, important match. Fed and Djok have folded like cheap deck chairs lately.

Had to have a corticosteroid injection into my shoulder today. Aesthetic is wearing off and is now painful !!!

the result was my supraspinatus tendon was torn or something and needs to be repaired before i can play tennis again.

light exercise and physio on it for 6 weeks to strengthen the joint.

^^^I'm struggling to dial in a string on the Storm Tours i've now got. I was on gut/spin-x in my prestige's, but I thought i'd have a play about before I go back to that! On my second dalliance with RPM (the first time I used it, it was the 15L cut from Rafa's own reel no less) and I hated it, this is the 16 and strung at 52 it's way too baggy and I still don't like it! Will probably string up another at 55ish to see of that's any better, currently second bat is strung with RAB texflex at 58 and is playing quite nicely.

Haven't been unfaithful to my strings in a long time - it's kind of fun!!!

    Cheers

Try XCEL at 56 or even 58, its obviously softer than RPM & holds tension better. RPM performs better in APDS or Aerostorms.

So, had 3 sets with this set-up tonight. Played quite nicely, maybe a tad too tight but it will drop (first hit with it) and prob feel a bit better on Thursday. Will try full bed syn gut on the next restring and then make a decision........

I tried the pure storm a few times, in different versions over the years never quite got it feeling rght either but equally didn't give it much time.I always think it's the babolat i should like the most.
    Unfaithful to strings! Good luck!

^^^The Texflex seems to have settled down nicely. I'm still going back to gut though, got a set of RPM knocking around still so might try a hybrid with that, other wise back to gut/spin-x for me.

being unfaithful is hard work! :D

Yes it is but now, there'll always be that voice at the back of your head going,
"hmm would that of had more spin if it was strung differently"
Or is that just me since i discovered a tennis forum existed?
