Surely there is an easy way to untangle a set of packaged string. I open it up and try to unwind and the entire set becomes a knot. Much more with polys than synthetics.

    Any easy ways ?

I must admit it does not always go that smooth but more often than not it does.

No time for the whole joke; but the punch line is:

    "Nope. I'm a frayed knot!"

For MRT test, you need to exam the string, especially the gut. It is a good practice.
After doing for few sets, I am able to loose up nicely without tangle up. Just hold the set in one hand and untangle it loop by loop to other hand and gently shake to help uncoil. Watch the string to see if there is any defects. The key is not to rush it. You should able to loose it up easily.

DD did a great video of how to open a babolat single set. If you string babolat string in a plastic box, you have to watch that video on youtube.

Irvin's method works after few practices. I think it is all about practice and stay with what you feel most comfortable.

I do something similar to Irvin. I undo the package, hold it in place with one hand and put my other arm through the middle of the set like a bracelet. From here, you can unwind it off of your arm as though it's a reel. String never coils up or gets tangled. Babolat packages are unique in that each set is packaged like a reel (edit: just saw ten11 mentioned Dire's video).
