US Open results so far for junior boys and girls at the Open today.

    BOYS -
    http://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/draws/bs/index.html?promo=leftnav

    GIRLS - http://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/draws/gs/r1s1.html

    BOYS
Yuki Bhambri (1) IND d. Jordan Cox USA, 6-2,6-1
    Stanislav Poplavsky UKR d. J. R. Van Overbeek USA , 6-4, 6-3
    Jack Sock USA d. David Souto (14) VEN, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
    Chase Buchanan USA d. Kevin Krawietz (11), GER, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5
Denis Kudla (16) USA d. Radim Urbanek CZE, 6-3, 7-5
Andrea Collarini (7) ARG d. Gonzales Austin USA, 6-1, 6-3
Federick Caio ITA d. Mitchell Frank USA, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1
Jose Pereira BRA def. Junior Ore USA 2-6, 6-4, 6-1
Tennys Sandgren USA def Daniel Berta (2) SWE, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6

    GIRLS
Asia Muhammad USA d. Kristina Mladenovic (1) FRA, 6-1, 6-4
Ajla Tomljanovic CRO (5) d. Alexandra Cercone USA, 6-1, 6-3
Lauren Davis USA d. Irina Khromacheva RUS, 6-4, 6-4
Tamaryn Hendler BEL (12) d. Jacqueline Cako USA, 6-4, 6-2
    Julia Boserup USA d. Sai-Sai Zheng CHN, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1
Sloane Stephens USA (4) d. Polina Leykina RUS, 6-4, 6-2
Valieria Solovieva RUS d. Kristie Ahn USA, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4

Some really good wins by the boys today with Sandgren, Sock, Buchanan all taking out seeds in long three-setters.

And on the girls side, Muhammad takes down the top seed.

My one question is...how did a Jr. Wimbledon finalist - Jordan Cox - end up drawing the top seed from India? That's a tough draw and loss for Jordan.

Impressive win for Sock. Was watching the entire 3rd set. He really does have a big forehand like what I've been hearing and today he displayed a marvelous drop shot that he used to full effect and Souto could not figure out.

Souto was obviously dismayed after the match and cracked his racquet behind the court only to stick it down the trash can.. Luckily I was able to see it first hand but unfortunately wasn't the person that kept it.

IMO Jordan Cox is way over rated .. sure he won 16s K-Zoo but has lost to a lot of lower ranked kids. I watched him at Kzoo this year and he didn't look that good at all...

Melanie actually has been a pro for a while and hasn't even played juniors since she ended #2 in the ITF...

Search her up on WTA tour, she would win the Berkely national without dropping more than 5 games each match probably.

To the person who asked about Bhambri: He's already won 3 or 4 futures in India and is in the top 500.

I looked at the draw. I have to assume it's updated. As I see it, Bhambri plays Jack Sock. Yes, Jack Sock is very good and very young. I'd say he's probably 16 still, but he's #1 in the 18s USTA Rankings. This forum is full of references to Jack Sock.

"Dusted"? Kind of implies an utter beatdown which 4 & 3 doesn't.

According to the stats, Sock broke Bhambri twice but Bhambri broke Sock 5 times. Sock had 12 fewer points overall. Methinks "dusted" is pretty strong.

Sock is a good junior but Bhambri is just totally on another level. I mean, the guy's the world no.1, reigning AO and Orange Bowl champion, top 500 pro who has won multiple futures events.

Buchanan has been playing well but Bhambri should take care of him without much trouble. Kudla and Sarmiento both have good chances to get to the semis against the winners of Mina/Lindell and Pereira/Herbert respectively.

They are playing the matches indoors today. The blog Zootennis has a twitter feed from the site, and apparently Buchanan beat Bhambri in straight sets! Very impressive from Chase.

The other two Americans are both gone Sarmiento lost to Herbert 6-2 4-6 6-2, Mina defeated Kudla 2-6 7-6 6-3. Tomic defeated Fernandes in straights.

Chase with the first set against Mina.

I can see how he can beat Yuki indoor hard. Port Chester courts are very fast IHMO

Nice for Chase. He must have excelled in the fast hard indoor courts. I think he has a fighting chance if they still keep it over at Port Chester

Does anyone know how Port Chester got the right to play the boys/girls USO if it rains at the NTC?
