    ^^ it's faster to get around by train on Fri afternoon anyways, but if you must be driven, you just hold a 20 or a 50 out and some car service (black lincoln towncar) driver will stop very soon...

    It seems that very few people in this forum are either from NYC or visit NYC, but I agree, it is rather useful, maybe I'll take it down.

    In the meanwhile, even if you do get a cab, it will most likely be faster to walk....

    ... Still remember the first time this "Upstate Hick" had a Sales Meeting on S. Ferry St. (Battery Park area, IIRC).

    Friday afternoon ... I had a 5:30 flight out of LGA ... I stepped onto the sidewalk at 4:00 ... the FIRST cab opportunity came along at 4:35(!). I was two feet from the Cab's door when ...

    BOOM!!!

    A "little old lady" (Literally!) shouldered me aside and leapt into the back seat...!

    The next Cab came along (at 5:05!!!). I attacked that Hack like a lion going for raw meat.

    ... Welcome to NYC, you bumpkin, you...!

    One legend claims stealing someone's shadow (by measuring it against a wall and driving a nail through its head) can turn the victim into a vampire

    Trivia is the Roman goddess of sorcery, hounds and the crossroads

    The only nation whose name begins with an "A", but doesn't end in an "A" is Afghanistan

    Newfoundland's time zone is half an hour off of all the others. So are Iran's, bits of India's, Afghanistan's, Burma's, and Nauru's. And some other islands. Like Australia

    Indeed, ShiroRm. I was born in Castiglione di Garfa-gnana, that's a small town in the province of Lucca, Tuscany :)

    Edit: I cannot type F A G, cause it's censored :)

    I know the various Castiglione ;-) I've been living in Tuscany for a while, even if not exactly near Lucca (in Florence and Siena, instead);
    and I noticed the family names are almost always "plural" there (medici, cini, cioli, banfi, guerrini...): that's why I thought your name had the same origin

    I spent month and a half studying in Siena this summer. Università Per Stranieri di Siena, of course. Absolutely adored the medieval feel to it. It was a dream trip. I can't wait to come back again :)

    Kimchee was used in ancient Korean villages where poor people had nothing to eat but rice and cabbage, and used spices to spice up their meals. It has no rightful place in cosmopolitan dining scene of today.

    Korean BBQ is good, and that’s why it is necessary to promote awareness among modern cosmopolitan diners of the dangers of relics of the past from rural poverty.

    I have gone on record with my position on Kimchee. How dare you question my integrity with insinuations about my secret suppressed desires.

    it is impossible for an object of mass to go > C
    C=3x10^8m/s
    as said object approaches C mass increases infinitely therefore energy required to propel object also increases infinitely
    and according to 1st law of thermodynamics energy cannot be obtained from nothing. so there is not infinite energy in the system to propel said object any faster

    it is hypothesized that gravitons whose existence has not been proven might travel at the speed of light (they are massless, btw)

    haha that's just the tip of the iceberg my friend.

    Time dilation occurs around any object with a gravitational field which disrupts the fabric of time/space.
    Time dilation also occurs when the frame of reference velocity is different than the object being observed.

    no im not studying the general theory of relativity, im on special theory of relativity. :D

    Oh, and by the way, most professional soccer players have January, February or March birthdays. It has something to do with age cutoffs and confidence building.

    Most GOAT contenders (in tennis) were born in the late summer.

    In the US, most highways that go east/west are even numbered. The ones going north/south are odd numbered. The opposite is true in Canada, I think.
    Oops, sorry that was actually somewhat useful if you are in North America.

    John McEnroe will turn 49 on February 16th, 2008. There we go. Back on track.
