I didn't think he could ever top the 2010 form. Surely with the injury and the absence from the game, I expected that to stay his best level at the USO for sure. But 2013 was better for me. The way he played in Montreal and The USO was the best play I've seen from him on HC. Check out his top 20 USO points from 2013:

Scary good!!, beats the 2010 USO form for me, even with the harder serve. What do you guys think?

Montreal this year was the best ever I have seen him on hc.
Think USO 2013 was better play than 2010.

Nolan didn't look so happy this year lol.

2010 is better for me. He was playing really good from the baseline plus dat serve...

Thank you for the highlights video, MN. Some amazing shots in there from Nadal, as always. His highest level on HC I think was Montreal, he was playing more aggressively than I have seen him play. He didn't start as well in USO, started falling back again, but he is such a good baseline player like that video illustrates that he still dominated rivals. Kohli was quite competitive, but was ultimately outclassed.

What Nadal should do is continue being more aggressive and not fall too far back. Especially when playing Djokovic, because at this point in his career Djokovic can win that type of game. But when Rafa is more aggressive and unleashes his forehand of doom he is devastating.

Toni was missing in Montreal and he admitted him and Francisco Roig worked on his court positioning. As soon as Toni returned he moved back again but he was hitting the ball so confidently at the USO that it didn't matter. He had so many tricks up his sleeve this year it was great to watch.

Yes, thank you for reminding me about that. Maybe Tio Toni should take a little break? ;)

His best overall hard court form was 2013, but best for a tournament was U.S Open 2010. He was in the zone there, serving huge, and NOBODY could have beaten him at that years U.S Open. The whining of easy draws from Federer fanboys is just that, pointless and sour graped whining. Federer is happy he didn't play Nadal that year.

I don't think he played all that well in the final apart from the first set when he outhit novak. after that he fell back to his typical lobbing style as was lucky that novak did not play well himself.

in 2010 on the other hand he really dominated.

I think Djokovic actually played better in 2010 USO Final than he did in 2013 for the most part, Nadal also played better in the final that year.

I think Djokovic played much better in this year's final. The difference is, so did Rafa. IMO they both played better than 2010.
