USOpen - lockers outside grounds

Discussion in 'Tennis Travel' started by tennisbelarus, Aug 28, 2007.

  1. Does anyone know about lockers outside stadium grounds? How big are they? Is it hard to get one? I'll have a big backpack (due to my complicated travel plans) when going to see USOpen and I'm wondering how I can manager it. Thanks for your advice.

It just doesn't sound very New York-y that the Open would offer any off-site lockers - the idea is to eliminate the tournament as a terror target, so why would officials there ever agree to store your bag for the day while you frolic on the grounds in relative safety, away from your gear? The tournament site is extremely isolated - it's in the middle of a park - so unless the Ecuadorian lady with the shopping cart of peeled mangos on sticks agrees to store your satchel, I'm pretty sure you're fubar'ed on this one.

    WRONG!

The US Open website specifically states that offsite lockers are available although no further information is given.

I would call the open for more info. Good Luck

I think there is something off site before you enter through the gates for bags. Check www.uso.org.

Backpacks are not allowed at all and even if you bring another type of bag be prepared for waiting on line a long time to get in. Yesterday the bag lines were mobbed when I went through the non bag line. If you try to get in through the non bag line with a bag (even a small one) they will catch you and send you to the back of the bag line so don't even bother trying. Playing dumb doesn't get you anywhere, either.

I didn't see that no info is given on the website so you definitely should call. I am pretty sure there is something right before the gates (at least the ones near the boardwalk.) I never go in near the Unisphere so I don't know about that entrance.

  5. Do you know what number I should call? I can't seem to find any numbers on the USOpen website. I tried sending e-mail but know one replied. Thanks.
