So Im new to all this, been playing a month but feeling good about it. I signed up for the summer flex for singles. I figured 2.5 would be a good place to get the feet wet. Apparently I was the only one.

Do men typically not do 2.5?

When my wife started a flex league, she did 2.5 and plenty of others as well.

Should I have just started at 3.0?

It might depend upon where you live. Here in Atlanta it seems that USTA flex singles is less popular than T2 and Ultimate/K-Swiss. Last year when I checked their web site for my area (north side suburban ATL) it should no flex leagues available. But Ultimate is so popular all of my matches for the upcoming season are in my neighborhood.

You have identified why you were the only sign up at the 2.5 level: men don't play/don't consider themselves 2.5 players. Sign up at 3.0 or maybe even 3.5. You will probably get more matches at the 3.5 level but it depends on what you are comfortable with.

I wouldn't sign up for a 3.5 league if you've been playing tennis for a month. Try 3.0, or look for other flex league options in your area.
