Any news on how this match turned out ?
This match will be played tomorrow (Sunday) starting at noon EST in Charlottesville.
Brian Boland, the UVa coach, has been trying to provide opportunities to develop the players outside the top 6 by playing matches with more than 6 singles and 3 doubles. This is OK if both coaches agree to the format and scoring.
Tomorrow, Virginia and Texas will play four doubles matches, each of which will count a point towards the final score (not just a single point for all doubles combined). Then, the teams will play nine singles matches. So, there are 13 points total, and the winner will have to get 7 or more. Note that a team could lose the singles 5-4 or even 6-3 and still win the match with a dominant doubles performance.
UVa will provide LiveStats here during the match.
My bad, I thought the match was today.
Virginia wins 9-4. It would have been 5-2 under regular scoring.
