they can do what they want, sure, but doesn't mean people can't have an opinion on it, like anything else we have opinions on

Jimmy Connors was the first to actually do this kind of fist pump.

I wanted you to lose so much, Fernando.
However, I want you to beat Almagro, so sorry about your loss.

Does anyone here actually have proof that Verdasco wasn't the one who started doing it first?

Also, maybe it's just a common celebration in Spain?

    oh, ok, makes sense, too

Kohl played very, very well today - almost beat Verdasco! They both seemed friendly and respectful at the net at match end. Nice to see.

I'd rather someone lose Hewitt style (Played awful, get destroyed) than Kohl/JCF style (Play okay, come very close)

Maybe for you as a fan. But for Verdasco, he'll be wary of Kohl henceforth. These guys know that when it's that close, there's a bit of luck going on.

One weak service game, and then his headcasiness kicked in and he started playing Dasco's game, going for too many winners, too much on the return. And you aren't going to beat Verdasco trying his own style.

You know, some may jump at this comparison, but I honestly think Verdasco has a lot of Nadal in him. The way he plays the backcourts, the way he moves up now and then at the net. There's something about his style that just seems so familiar to me.

I don't know much about Kohl - haven't watched him but twice, I think. He didn't strike me as a headcase, though, but you know his play better than I do.

Melzer. Verdasco. Same player. Look at their matches, they play exactly the same (Despite the commentator's claim that Melter has no weapons, LOL)

I will definitely take a closer look at Melzer...will try to watch his next match. He's been doing exceptionally well in this FO!

I think I reported earlier that The New York Times ran a great little story recently on drop shot players, and Melzer is apparently considered one of the best! In fact, let me see if I can get that story link for you....

    Yes! It's great:

Melzer doesn't go around saying 'i can beat everyone except for 'insert player 'x' who i fancy'. Verdasco is a joke to tennis. Lucky to even make it pro, only because this era is joke.

Thanks for this link, DG!!! I've got it running and will definitely watch it, even if it runs while I'm tuning in to the NBA playoff game tonight (Suns v. Lakers....Go Phoenix!!!:))

I've wanted to know why Ferrer lost! I'll find out now....

I like Melzer's demeanor better. Very, very emotional just like Verdasco, but without the bit of arrogance. Still, I hope Dasco can beat a guy who defines arrogance in Almagro, though I admire Nico's fighting spirit despite his choking ways.

You are welcome, Outbeyond. Melter simply could do no wrong in sets 1/2, and avoided a collapse in 3rd when it looked like the Melzdown would be there any second.

In my complete ignorance of what's no doubt truly going on, I wonder if Almagro doesn't worry deep down that he's the least heralded one amongst the top Spanish players. I mean, think about it: Nadal's the greatest from Spain, everyone knows that. Verdasco's up and coming and is drawing all kinds of attention of late with his tournament wins. Ferrer the same, and folks grew to trust Ferrer as the one to get to the semis, if nothing else. But Almagro's been left in the dust!!! It's gotta gall him no end.

Anyway, that's my armchair psychology, LOL!!

really? besides being lefties....Meltzer hits usually harder serves, worse forehand than verdasco, flatter backhand than verdasco and melzter approach the net A LOT more than verdasco. Don´t state things so quickly.

    Ferrero's underratedness >>> Almagro da Headcase's underratedness

And Melzer's bh is better, fh worse, but otherwise they are very similar.

Leo, you might want to take a course or two in the School of Humble. There's a classic saying from a master of media, Marshall McLuhan, that you'd do well to remember the next time you want to lay down your knowledge to others:

    The Medium is the Message.

YEAH!!! Btw, it looks like we might (I repeat, might) still actually have a shot at QFs
I wanna see Melter in the Final and I actually think he matches up quite well vs both Djoker and Nadal if he survives the qualifier. If, that is, he can keep his head. 1/700 odds.

Ok, look, lefty, very offensive, underachievers, loves angles, nice (similar) serve, both huge chokers. That's what I'm going on here.
